Mt. Kailash & Manasarovar Tour

Day 01:  Arrival Lhasa
On your arrival at Lhasa airport, you will be met and transferred to hotel for overnight stay.

 

Lhasa at an altitude of 3,650 mt, is situated on the north bank of Kyichu River. Lhasa in Tibetan means "Place of the Gods", the residence of the Dalai Lama.,


It is sacred because of the figures of Songtsen Gampo and his two royal consorts and the figures of Sakyamuni brought from Chang' an and Nepal. One thousand five hundred years ago Lhasa was known as Otang, which means, "plain flowing with milk," because of its rich pasture, good for grazing sheep and cattle.The Rasa Monastery soon became the Otang people's central place of worship, for it enshrined the gilded image of Sakyamuni brought from Chang's an by Princess Wen Cheng. In the course of time, the original name of the place was forgotten, and it became known simply as Rasa, which was gradually changed into Lhasa

 

Day 02: In Lhasa
Morning you will proceed for full day sightseeing of Potala Palace, Ramoche Monastery and & Norbulinka.

 

Visting Potala Palace, this legendary palace built atop a single hill is synonymous with Tibet by the first foremost king Songtsen Gompa. Norbulingka meaning 'Treasure Park' covers an area of around 360000 sq. m. and is considered to be the biggest man made garden in Tibet.

 

Stay overnight at your hotel.

 

Day 03: In Lhasa
Morning you will proceed for full day sightseeing of Drepung Monastery

 

Drepung Monastery is one the three greatest Buddhist temples in Lhasa together with Sera and Ganden Monasteries. This temple was originally built in 1416 when the Buddhist Gelug Sect was in the golden time.

 

Visit Drepung Monastery for the whole morning, later after lunch also visit Sera monastery.

Day 04: Lhasa - Gyantse (300 Kms /07 Hrs)
Morning you will  Drive to Gyangtse via Yamdrok Lake, visit the famous Gyantse Kumpum
Stay overnight at hotel.


Day 05: Gyantse- Shigatse- Lhatse (240 Kms /05 Hrs)
Visit Tashilhunpo Monastery and Sakya Monastery drive to Shigatse to visit Tashilunpo Monastery, afternoon drive to Sakya, visit Sakya Monastery. Stay overnight at hotel.


Day 06:  Lhatse- Saga
Drive from Lhatse to Saga and on arrival check-in into the hotel for overnight stay, hotel.


Day 07: Saga- Paryang
Drive from Saga to Paryang through the windswept territory passing many villages and camps of Yak herders with the distance view of snow capped mountains (250km, 7-8hours, and 4600m high).
Stay overnight at hotel.


Day 08: Paryang- Manasarovar
Drive from Paryang to Lake Manasarovar through open territory with a view of distant mountains, Yak herders camp, if lucky might come across a herd of Kang (Wild Ass (294km, 8hours, 4558m high), you will have the first sight of Holy Kailash  and Manasarovara.
Stay overnight at hotel.


Day 09: In Lake Manasarovar
 Rest and sightseeing at Lake Manasarovar.
Stay overnight at hotel.


Day 10: In Lake Mansarovar
Drive from Lake Manasarovar to Darchen (60km, 2hours, 4560m high), prepare for trekking.
Stay overnight at hotel.


Day 11: Darchen- Dira-puk Monastery
Trek from Darchen to Dira-puk Monastery, 20km, takes about 5 - 6hours  The first day's parikarama is a gradual walk with multitudes of other local pilgrims chanting and praying. The trail leads to few ups and downs till we reach our camp at Dirapuk (4,750 m.). Camping on the nice grassy meadows with a view of Kailash, north west face at Dirapuk for overnight halt. 


Day 12: Dira-puk Monastery- Zutul-puk Monastery  
Trek from Dira-puk Monastery to Zutul-puk Monastery by crossing Drolma-la Pass, 15KM, takes about 6 - 7hours  Today our parikarama leads to much higher side of the holy path just beneath the Mount Kailash. The walk will bring us to one of the highest point at Drolma La, 5,200 m. before descending to the gradual field towards Zuthulphuk for the overnight camp.


Day 13: Trek back to Darchen,(14 Kms, 4- 5hours)
 The winding gradual tracks finally ends our holy pilgrimage 5hours, Overnight at Darchen


 Day 14: Darchen - Paryang (4550m, 340km, 9 Hrs)
 Drive from Darchen to Paryang and on arrival check-in into the hotel for overnight stay.


Day 15: Paryang -Saga (252km/ 7-8 Hrs)
 Drive from Paryang to Saga (252km, 7-8hours). Overnight at Saga (Guesthouse, dorm bed)


Day 16: Saga - Lhasa (300Km/ 09 Hrs) 
Drive from Saga to Lhatse (300Km, 9hours). Overnight at Lhatse


Day 17: Lhatse - Lhasa (450km, 7 Hrs)
Morning you will proceed to Lhasa by surface and on arrival check-in into the hotel for overnight stay.


Day 18: Lhasa Departure
 As per scheduled you will be transferred to airport to connect flight for onward journey.
