The Golden Chariot Train Tour


The Golden Chariot Train Tour starts on every Monday of the week from Bangalore and ends in Bangalore on every Monday morning respectively, which covers the IT city of India Bangalore, the palace city of Mysore, then to Kabini, Aihole, and Pattadakal to explore its natural beauty, the ruins of Hassan, Halebid and Hospet and on your Golden Chariot train tour will also be visiting golden beaches of Goa, sculpture Of Karnataka, and beautiful backwater of Kerala.

Day 01: Bangalore (Monday) 12:30 PM
Bangalore’s beginnings go back only as far as 1537.  Today it is a cosmopolitan and modern city, one of the fastest growing in India, attracting industry and commerce.  Once a little British Island in the South, it retains a distinct British flavor.


Afternoon proceed for city tour of Bangalore.

 

Sightseeing tour of this city of gardens visiting the Cubbon Park spread over 100 acres, and having a variety of flora.  During the drive you will view the Maharaja’s Palace, the Indian Institute of Science, the Public Library, the State Government Museum, and Vidhana Soudha, an imposing structure in granite built in the Dravidian style.  See the Bull Temple and visit the Mysore Arts and Craft Center.
Later leave for Mysore to board on Golden Chariot Train.

 

11:30 pm: Arrive at Mysore dinner on board.
 
Day 02: Mysore- Kabini- Bandipur (Tuesday)
Morning after breakfast on board depart for Kabini  Bandipur, and on arrival   visit tot Kabini National Park.

Kabini Rajiv Gandhi National Park, Nagarhole (Kabini), the hunting retreat of the Mysore Maharajas, is definitely the perfect destination for wildlife lovers in South India. The excitement starts with a safari into the heart of the park, where you are sure to spot wild animals in their natural habitat. Some of the popular sightings are elephant, gaur, sambar, chital, wild boar and the more exclusive predators like tiger and leopard. A bird watcher's paradise, the park is home to over 300 species of birds, many of which are endemic to these jungles.

Day 03: Mysore (Wednesday)
Morning depart for Mysore and on arrival sight seeing tour of Mysore.

 

Known for its magnificent palaces, majestic buildings, sprawling, gardens and and tree –lined boulevards, shimmering silks and sandalwood, this ‘City Roayle’ always figures in tourist‘s itinerary this former state capital is seamless blend of world charm and modernity. it remains its tradition in music dance, art and literature and time– honored crafts.

 

Visiting Mysore Palace-the Capital of the warrior-kings Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan, the Tiger of Mysore, Mysore Palace, Nandi Bull and Brindavan Gardens, the ornamental terraced gardens, the swirling fountains, the colorful fairy lights and specially ‘dancing musical fountains’  
Later visit to Srirangapatna - The island fortress of the legendary warrior king Tipu Sultan is just 14 km from Mysore city.

 

Day 04: Hassan (Thursday)
Depart from Mysore to Hassan and on arrival for sightseeing to Shravanabelagola. Afternoon returns for lunch later depart for an execution to Belur and Halebid.

 

Belur is known for its exquisite temples and Chennakeshava Temples is a fine example.  It took 103 years to complete and the façade of the temple is covered with intricate sculptures and frescoes - awe-inspiring in their workmanship.   In the temple are hand-lathe turned filigreed pillars. Later Halebid–Hoysaleswara Temple has a wealth of sculptural detail, the walls covered with gods, goddesses, animals and dancing girls.


Halebid in Hassan district is 27 Kms away from Hassan and was the capital of the Hoysalas. It has one of the finest Hoysala temples. The Hoysaleswara Temple, perched on a star-shaped base amidst lawns, is a sculptural extravaganza. Its walls are richly carved with an endless variety of Hindu deities, sages, stylized animals, birds and friezes depicting the life of the Hoysala Kings.

At 19:45 Hrs depart to Hospet and dinner on board The Golden Chariot.

 

Shravanabelagola is an important Jain pilgrim centre. It is home to Asia's largest monolithic statue Lord Gomateswara here towers 58 ft., looming atop the picturesque Vindhyagiri Hill. Every 12 years, Jain pilgrims gather here to participate in a splendid head-anointing ceremony. 

Stay overnight at Train.

 

Day 05: Hospet (Friday)
Arrival Hospet at 06:00 and proceed for Hampi sightseeing Virupaksha Temple, Queens's Bath and Elephant Stables,

 

Afternoon return to The Golden Chariot for Lunch


Later depart for sightseeing of Royal enclosure, Hazara Rama Temple and Vittala Temple.

 

The ruins of the Hampi of the 14th century lies scattered in about 26 sq. Km area, amidst giant boulders and vegetation. protected by the tempestuous river Tungabhadra  in the north and rocky granite ridges  on the other tree side the ruins is silently narrate the story the remains of the palaces and the gateways of the broken city tells a tale of man infinite talent and the power of creativity  together with the capacity of the senseless destruction.


Stay overnight at train.

 

Day 06: Badami (Saturday)
Morning proceed for Badami an don arrival depart for sightseeing: Badami Caves and Pattadakal

 

Badami is famous for the it is four cave temple - all hewn out of the sand stone on the precipice of the a hill. The capital of the early Chalukyas, Badami is picturesquely situated at the mouth of a ravine between two rocy hills. The exquisite sculptures and the rust red sandstone cliffs of Badami tell many a tale of yore. The first sculptural embellishment to dazzle the eye is the 18 armed Nataraja striking 81 dance poses.

 

Pattadakal, with its beautifully chiseled temples is a World Heritage Site located on the banks of the Malaprabha River. It bears testimony to the richness of the Chalukyan architecture. Pattadakal reached its pinnacle of glory under the Chalukyan Kings and was once used as a ceremonial center where kings were crowned.
 
Afternoon you will return to The Golden Chariot for Lunch

 

Depart at 14:00 Hrs for Goa and arrival you are free for independent activities.

The churches, temples and mosques in Goa set an example of religious harmony and secularism before other states in India. Goa remained under Portuguese command for about 450 years. In 1961, Goa became a union territory along with Daman and Diu in India. In 1987, Goa became the 25th state of India. And now it is immensely popular tourist destination.

Day 07: Goa (Sunday)
Morning depart for the full day city tour of Goa

Visiting Se Cathedral, St. Catherine's Church and Church of St. Francis Xavier In the former lies the uncorrupted body of St. Francis Xavier in a silver casket and the latter houses 14 magnificent altars and five bells of which one is the famous golden Bell, and famous Basilica of Bom Jesus and The tour continues with a drive to Dona Paula beach, later drive past Miramar Beach.  Later at Anjuna beach you are free to enjoy the beach visit.

 

Later pick up and Return to The Golden Chariot.
Dinner onboard The Golden Chariot at 21:00 Hrs depart for Bangalore.
 
Day 08: Departure Bangalore (Monday) 

Breakfast onboard The Golden Chariot at 11:00 Hrs reach Yeswanthpur railway station, and in time transfer to airport to board flight for onward destination.
