The Palace on Wheels Tour


Palace on Wheels is Royal Retreat, the pride of India, the wonderful, unparallel, unique and unforgettable Palace on Wheels which has been rated amongst the top ten luxury trains of the world. The trains take you to a travel to Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Sawai Madhopur, Chittaurgarh, Udaipur, Bharatpur and Agra.

Day 01: Delhi Arrival                      
On your arrival at International airport, transfer to your hotel for overnight stay.

 

Delhi, India’s modern capital is also an ancient city tracing its origins in legend.  It is dotted with hundreds of landmarks and offers more than a millennium of history in stone.  From here various Hindu and Muslim dynasties including the Mughals ruled India. When British administration moved to Delhi and New Delhi became the Capital of India once again.


Day 02: Delhi – Jaipur                    
(Tour Begins: 09.30 Hrs.)
You will take the tour of New Delhi & Old Delhi.

 

Morning proceed for sightseeing of New Delhi,  Visit Qutub Minar, One of the fine examples of early afghan architecture, Humayun Tomb, built by the wife of Humayun, Haji Begum in the mid 16th century, this red sand stone structure is considered to be the predecessor of Taj Mahal. Drive pass by India Gate (A War memorial) and Presidency House.


Afternoon proceed for sightseeing of Old Delhi, include the drive past to Red Fort, visit to Jama Masjid, Commissioned by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and completed in the year 1656 AD, it is one of the largest and best-known mosques, and later enjoy cycle rickshaw ride within Chandani Chowk market.

 

After lunch at a local restaurant, you will be transferred to the Safdarjung Railway station, New Delhi where the guests are accorded a warm, traditional welcome before the Palace on Wheels proceed for Jaipur.
                            
Day 03: Jaipur
(Arrival 02.00 Hrs Departure 19.30 Hrs)
Jaipur has been like that since 1727 when Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II had it built. And In 1876 A.D. Jaipur dressed itself in pink to welcome Prince Albert, consort of Queen Victoria and earned the epitaph ‘PINK CITY', it is also a home of excellent handicrafts especially known for the exquisite gold jewellery enameled or inlaid with precious stones, blue pottery, carving on wood, stone & ivory, block print, tie & dye textiles, hand made paper, miniature painting etc.


Arrival in Jaipur explores the spellbinding city of Jaipur & Amber Fort.


Amber was the capital of the Kachhwaha clan, till Jaipur was made the official capital in 1727. Situated on a crafty hill, is the royal elephant ride to ascend the fort. Later stop at Hawa Mahal (Wind Palace) for photography. Hawa Mahal was built in 1799; its original intention was to allow royal ladies to observe everyday life in the street below without being seen.

Later check-in and board Palace on Wheel for overnight journey.

 

Day 04: Jaisalmer
(Arrival 08.15 Hrs Departure 23.00 Hrs)

This desert fortress is one of Rajasthan's most exotic and unusual towns. Jaisalmer, an important ancient trading centre because of its strategic location on the camel trade routes, is often described as the 'golden city'. The havelis, built by merchants of the 19th century, are exquisitely carved from Golden-yellow sandstone and are still in a beautiful condition.


Arrival in Jaiwsalmer explores the city.


Visit Jaisalmer Fortknown as Sonar Quila ‘ the Golden fort’  is one of the largest of desert forts of the world. Manak Chowk, Salim Singh Ki Haveli (Mansion), Patwon-Ki Haveli-one of the largest and most elaborate Havelis in Jaisalmer, and Gadi sagar Lake.
Evening: witness Sunset from the Cenotaphes with camel safari to Sam Sand Dunes.
Enjoy the dinner and the cultural programmes at a hotel in Jaisalmer.

The train leaves for Jodhpur at night.

 

Day 05: Jodhpur
(Arrival 07.00 Hrs. Departure15.30 Hrs.)

The home of the Rathore rulers Jodhpur Once the capital of the Marwar state, it was founded in 1459 A.D. by Rao Jodha- chief of the Rathore clan of Rajputs who claimed to be descendants of Rama – the epic hero of the Ramayana.
Arrival in Jodhpur explores the city.


Visiting Mehrangarh Fort, Moti Mahal and Phool Mahal, The Fort is followed by the Jaswant Thada Jaswant Thada - the 19th century royal a marble cenotaph built in 1899 for Maharajah Jaswant Singh II.

Day 06: Sawai Madhopur

)

Ranthambore Fort is a formidable fort and has been a focal point of historical developments of Rajasthan. It is surrounded the famous Ranthambore National Park which was formerly the hunting grounds for the Maharajahs of Jaipur.

Arrival Sawai Madhopur and explore the magnificent Ranthambhore Wildlife Sanctuary.

 

Later board Palace on Wheel for overnight journey for Chittaurgarh.

 

Day 07: Chittaurgarh
(Arrival16.00 Hrs.)

 

The ruined Fortier's of Chittaur symbolizes all that is brave true and noble in the Rajput era. This glorious fort was attacked 3 times and every attack involved the ritual of Jauhar. This ritual are threw himself or herself into raging fire or a well, to prevent themselves from the humiliation at the hands of the enemy.

 

On arrival proceed for city tour

 

Visit to Fort, Vijay Stambh (Victory Tower), the imposing 37metre high structure with nine storys. Covered with exquisite sculptures of Hindu deities and depicting episodes from the two great epics - Ramayan and Mahabharata, the Vijay Stambh, was built in 1440 A. D. by Maharana Kumbha. Next is Kirti Stambh (Tower of Fame). This 22 m tall tower is dedicated to Adinathji, the first of the Jain Tirthankaras. It was built by a wealthy Jain merchant in 12th century A.D., with figures from the Jain pantheon decorating the tower. Last but not the least is Rana Kumbh Palace.

 

Day 08: Chittaurgarh
(Departure 05:30 Hrs. Arrive Udaipur 7:30 AM)

Udaipur is also known as Venice of the East. The main City is situated around Lakes. Lake Pichola at Udaipur is one of the biggest human made lakes in the world. Udaipur is also described as the “City of Sunrise”. 


Morning proceed for city tour of Udaipur. 

Visiting the City Palace, an imposing edifice of granite and marble Also visit  Museum, Sahelion Ki Bari, a Garden design in the early 18th century purely as a pleasure garden design and Jagdish Teple, Built by Maharana  Jagat Singh I in 1651 the temple enshrineses a black stone image of Lard Vishnu. There is a Brass image of Garuda the Lord Bird carrier.

 

Enjoy a two-hour boat-ride on Lake Pichola, which is surrounded by hills on three sides.  From little islands in the Lake rise at the water’s edge palaces of pure white marble.

Day 09: Bharatpur
(Arrival 06.30hrs.  Departure 11.45 Hrs)

Early next morning, the Palace arrives in Bharatpur, the capital of Maharaja Suraj Mal. After breakfast pay a visit to the world famous bird sanctuary, Keoladeo Ghana National Park, the nesting place of thousands of Egrets, Siberian Cranes, migratory Water Fowl and other species of birds.

 

Later proceed for A Fatehpur Sikri-the red sandstone Mughal palatial complex, and on arrival visit the deserted city.

 

Agra Arrival
(14.30 Hrs Departure 23.00 Hrs)

Agra is famous as being home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World-the Taj Mahal. The architectural splendour of the mausoleums, the fort and the palaces is a vivid remainder of the capital in the 16th and early 17th centuries. A pleasant town with comparatively slow pace, The city is also famous for its carpets, gold thread embroidery and leather shoes. Agra was once the capital of the Mughal Empire.
Arrival in Agra explores the city.


Visit the world famous Taj Mahal built by the Moghul Emperor Shahjehan in 1630 for his Queen Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains. Later visit the Agra Fort containing the the Halls of Public and Private Audience. Also visit the Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daullah built by Empress Noorjehan in memory of her father.
 
Later board Palace On Wheels for Delhi. After dinner on board and a good night’s sleep.

 

Day 10: Arrival Delhi
Arrive at Safdarjung Train Station, New Delhi at 6.00 Hrs.


In time assistance transfer to airport to board on flight for onward journey.
