Spices and Sandalwood Tour to South India

Day 01: Arrive Bangalore
On your arrival at international airport met and transfer to the hotel for overnight stay.


Bangalore is a cosmopolitan and modern city, one of the fastest growing in India, attracting industry and commerce.  The city founded by a Hola King in sixteenth century and later become the fortress tower of the Tipu Sulatan and finally a British cantonment.  Over the past decades Banglore has become the India’s fastest growing city and the hub for national IT industry. This is the charm of Bangalore along with its pleasant temperate climate, beautiful gardens that are a legacy of the Raj and friendly people.


Day 02: In Bangalore
Morning proceed for city tour of Bangalore.

 

Sightseeing tour of this city of gardens visiting the Cubbon Park spread over 100 acres, and having a variety of flora.  During the drive you will view the Maharaja’s Palace, the Indian Institute of Science, the Public Library, the State Government Museum, and Vidhana Soudha, an imposing structure in granite built in the Dravidian style.  See the Bull Temple and visit the Mysore Arts and Craft Center

Stay overnight stay at your hotel.

 

Day 03: Bangalore – Mysore
Morning proceed for Mysore by surface, en – route visit to Srirangapatnam.

 

Srirangapatnam,-the island fortress that was once the capital of the warrior-kings Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan, the Tiger of Mysore.
After visit the Srirangapatnam continue drive to Mysore and on arrival check-in into the hotel


Mysore was once the capital of the Wodeyar kingdom and is still one of the finest cities of southern India.  Small, easygoing, sandalwood country, a crafts-crazy city, friendly people going about their business in a city of gardens, tree lined boulevards, art galleries and a palace.


Afternoon proceed for sightseeing city tour of Mysore.


Visiting Mysore Palace-the Capital of the warrior-kings Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan, the Tiger of Mysore, Mysore Palace, Nandi Bull and Brindavan Gardens, the ornamental terraced gardens, the swirling fountains, the colorful fairy lights and specially ‘dancing musical fountains’

Day 04: Mysore – Nagarhole (96 Kms / 2Hrs)

Morning you will proceed for Nagarhole, and on arrival check-in into the Jungle Resort.


The Nagarhaole National Park, About 643 Kms in area, Nagarhole Wildlife Sanctuary is home to the tiger along with the other wild life species and around 250 bird species.


Nagarhole national park (NNP), the enchanting 247 square-mile park in Karnataka has an astonishing abundance of wildlife including large mammals such as tiger, leopard, wild elephant, dhole (Indian wild dog), and gaur (Indian bison). Other species present are chital spotted deer, muntjac (barking deer), mouse deer, four-horned antelope, wild boar, sloth bear, hyena, mongoose, civet, otter, and more.

 Day 05: Nagarhole - Vythiri (100 Kms /02 Hrs)

Morning you will drive to Vythiri and on arrival check-in into the hotel for overnight stay.


Wayanad is one of the prominent places in Malabar, which promises a variety of wildlife, ayurveda, plantation resorts and spas with a distinct culture and a tradition of its own. The distinctive ecological and geographical features of Waynad, provide a unique charm and an enchanting challenge for hikers, trekkers and nature lovers.


Day 06: In Vythiri
Today visit Pookat Lake, Soojipara Water Fall, Edakal Caves, back to resort, leisure o/n Resort.


Day 07: Vythiri – Kochi (300 Kms/08 Hrs)
Drive south to the Malabar Coast and to Kochi, stopping to visit the temple town of Guruvayur. Over the centuries the Portuguese, Dutch and British have all influenced the fascinating city of Kochi.
Stay overnight at the Hotel.


 Day 08: In Kochi
This morning take a guided walking tour of historic Fort Kochi to include St Francis Church, the oldest European church in India and the Chinese fishing nets. Then go by car to visit the Mattancherry Palace the nearby merchant houses and a fine synagogue. Walk through the spice markets where traders sell varieties of rice, ginger, garlic and chilli. Around sunset take a motor launch cruise around the picturesque harbour.


Day 09: Kochi - Periyar (165 Kms /04 Hrs)
Morning drive to Periyar and on arrival check-in into the hotel


Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, one of the well-known wildlife sanctuaries in the south. Also called the Thekkady Wildlife Sanctuary, this place is ideal for watching the animals in their natural habitat. This lake serves as the waterhole for the animals and they come here to drink or take a dip. Elephants, Gaur, Sambhar and even tigers can be spotted here.

Later a boat ride to the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. During your boat cruise, you will also be able to have a good look at many wild animals lazing on the banks of Lake Periyar. 

 

Evening visit the Kumily spice village and retire to the forest lodge for overnight stay.

Day 10: Periyar - Madurai (140 Kms/04 Hrs)
Early morning viewing by boat then leave for Madurai, a vibrant pilgrimage city famous for the great Meenakshi Temple. In the afternoon visit this bustling temple.

Day 11: Madurai - Chennai
Morning fly to Chennai and on arrival transfer to hotel


Tradition and Historic temples town Chennai is endowed with the second longest beach in the world-the Marina Beach. The fourth largest city in the country, Chennai is a mix historic monuments and new high-rise buildings. A lush, green city famed for its temples and silk, music and dance, Chennai gives a sense of serenity and spaciousness, enhanced by one of the world’s largest and most beautiful beaches.  Chennai also offers rejuvenating South India Ayurveda Tour- a perfect tour to relax and rejuvenate your senses.

 

Afternoon we take half day city tour of Chennai.


Proceed to Fort St. George containing the oldest Anglican Church in India, St. Mary’s Church, one of its benefactors being Elihu Yale, the English merchant after whom the University in Boston is named.  The Fort Museum contains a fine collection of relics of that era.  Drive along the Marina Beach past the Madras University, the Senate House and the Palace of the Nawabs of the Carnatic, to the San Thome Cathedral where the apostle is buried.  Visit the ancients Kapaleeshwar Temple dedicated to Shiva, having a beautifully sculptured “Gopuram” (temple-tower) typical of South Indian temple architecture.


Day 12: Chennai Depart
Day you are free for the independent activities. Late evening as per scheduled time transfer to airport to board flight for onward destination.
