Goa And South India Heritage Tour

Day 01: Arrive Mumbai
On your arrival at Mumbai airport, transfer to your hotel for Stay overnight  stay.
    
Mumbai is an industrial metropolis as well as the textile and film capital of the country. It was once a cluster of 7 islands. Bombay was ceded to the Portugese by the local ruler in the 16th Century.  Later, it was acquired by the English when it was given as a dowry to King Charles II when he married a Portuguese princess.  Today cosmopolitan Bombay is a commercial nerve centre apart from being one of India’s busiest ports.

 

Day 02: In Mumbai
Morning we take a half-day excursion to the Elephanta Caves.

 

Elephanta is a 3 kms long elongated island, consisting of two hills separated by a valley.  See Shiva in his three-headed aspect: as Creator (facing right), Protector (the crowned face at the center), and Destroyer (facing left, with serpents for hair). Also visit to Shiva bringing the Ganges River down to Earth.

 

Afternoon take the half day tour Mumbai


Visit the Juhu Beach, Gateway of India, Victoria Terminus, Prince of Wales Museum, Drive past the “Towers of Silence”, Kamla Nehru Park and Hanging Gardens situated on the slope of Malabar Hill offering a panoramic view of Marine Drive and Chowpatty Beach. Drive through local animated Crawford market.


Stay overnight at hotel.

 

Day 03: In Hyderabad
Morning as per scheduled time you will be transferred to domestic airport to board flight for Hyderabad and on arrival transfer your hotel.

Afternoon, we visit the Charminar- rectangular four arched monumental gate often described as "The Arch of Triumph of the East", the Mecca Mosque and Salar Jung Museum - one man's collection of manuscripts, ancient weapons, costumes and curios. Later drive past the High Court buildings.


Stay overnight  at hotel.

 

Day 04: In Hyderabad
Full day you will be excursion to Golconda Fort.

 

 Golconda once famed for its diamond mines (from which the famous Kohinoor diamond of the British crown was mined), is the site of a strategic fort dating back to the 13th century. This invincible fort has an extraordinary acoustical system and massive battlements.

Later visit the Usmansagar Lake- one of the most beautiful man-made lakes.

Day 05: Hyderabad – Chennai
Morning as per scheduled time you will be transferred to domestic airport to board flight for Chennai and on arrival transfer your hotel.

 

For the day visit Museum to see the Art & Bronze Gallery. Drive through the Flower and Fruit Markets, High Court, Fort Museum, Marina Beach, San Thome Cathedral, The Theosophical Society and Snake Park.

The fourth largest city in the country, Chennai is a mix historic monuments and new high-rise buildings. Day 06: In Chennai
Morning we take half day city tour of Chennai.


Proceed to Fort St. George containing the oldest Anglican Church in India, St. Mary’s Church, one of its benefactors being Elihu Yale, the English merchant after whom the University in Boston is named.  The Fort Museum contains a fine collection of relics of that era.  Drive along the Marina Beach past the Madras University, the Senate House and the Palace of the Nawabs of the Carnatic, to the San Thome Cathedral where the apostle is buried.  Visit the ancients Kapaleeshwar Temple dedicated to Shiva, having a beautifully sculptured “Gopuram” (temple-tower) typical of South Indian temple architecture.

 

Day 07: Chennai - Mysore
Early morning board the train for Mysore and on arrival you will be transferred to hotel.

 

Afternoon we take half-day sight seeing tour of Mysore

 

Visiting Mysore Palace-the Capital of the warrior-kings Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan, the Tiger of Mysore, Mysore Palace, Nandi Bull St Philomena's Church etc; Sri Jauyachamarajendra Art Gallery housed in the Jagmohan Palace, which has a collection of exquisite paintings. In the evening visit the Chamundi hill temple and Bull temple.  

 

Day 08: In Mysore
Full day excursion to Sravanbelagola , Belur and helebid

 

At Sravanbelagola, hewn out of a single rock and visible from a distance of 25 kms is the statue of Lord Gomteshwara, which is bathed with milk , sandalwood, saffron once every 12 years. The Chennakesava temple of Belur built 900 years ago is an exquisite example of Hoysala art. Halebid 's 12th century Hoysaleswara and Kedareswara temples are masterpieces of Hindu art.

 

Later return to hotel for overnight  stay.

 

Day 09: Mysore - Bangalore
Morning we drive toward Bangalore on the way we visit Srirangapatnam,

 

This fort was the stronghold of Tippu Sultan, son of Hyder Ali. Tippu fought a valiant battle against the British in 1799 before laying down his life. Among the many fort buildings till intact are Tippu 's airy summer palace and his tomb at the Darya Daulat Bagh (Garden). Also visit Sri Ranganatha Temple.

 

Arrive Bangalore and check-in into the hotel for Stay overnight  stay.

 

Bangalore is a cosmopolitan and modern city, one of the fastest growing in India, attracting industry and commerce.  The city founded by a Hola King in sixteenth century and later become the fortress tower of the Tipu Sulatan and finally a British cantonment.  Over the past decades Bangalore has become the India’s fastest growing city and the hub for national IT industry. This is the charm of Bangalore along with its pleasant temperate climate, beautiful gardens that are a legacy of the Raj and friendly people.

 

Day 10: In Bangalore
Morning proceed for city tour of Bangalore.

 

Sightseeing tour of this city of gardens visiting the Cubbon Park spread over 100 acres, and having a variety of flora.  During the drive you will view the Maharaja’s Palace, the Indian Institute of Science, the Public Library, the State Government Museum, and Vidhana Soudha, an imposing structure in granite built in the Dravidian style.  See the Bull Temple and visit the Mysore Arts and Craft Center.


Later drive to Mysore a distance of 90 Kms En-route stop at Srirangapatnam, once the capital of the Mysore Rajahs, to visit the Fort and Palace. 

 

Day 11: Bangalore - Hampi
Proceed to Hampi- the erstwhile capital city of Vijayanagar Empire which had Palaces, Temples and sculptures spread all over. The city was razed to the ground by the Sultanates of South in 1565. We Check in hotel at Hospet (12 km from Hampi). Rest of the day at your discretion or you can explore group of monuments at Hampi.

 

Day 12: Hampi - Bijapur
Buildings to see are Ibrahim Rauza, Gagan Mahal, Bara Kaman etc. Transfer to Airport for onward flight to Bangalore for onward journey.

 

Day 13: Bijapur - Goa
Rest of the day you will be free to explore local animated market.

 

The azure seas of the Goa yield a variety of the fresh, tasty seafood and fish. the cultural and historical heritage of Goa, demonstrates a symbiotic relationship between East and the West. The churches, temples and mosques in Goa set an example of religious harmony and secularism before other states in India. Goa remained under Portuguese command for about 450 years. In 1961, Goa became a union territory along with Daman and Diu in India. In 1987, Goa became the 25th state of India. And now it is immensely popular tourist destination.

 

Day 14: In Goa
Morning depart for the full day city tour of Goa

 

Visiting Se Cathedral, St. Catherine’s Church and Church of St. Francis Xavier In the former lies the uncorrupted body of St. Francis Xavier in a silver casket and the latter houses 14 magnificent altars and five bells of which one is the famous golden Bell, and famous Basilica of Bom Jesus and The tour continues with a drive to Dona Paula beach, later drive past Miramar Beach. 

 

Later pick up and return to your hotel.

 

Day 15: In Goa
Full day you are free for independent activities. Laze on the beach, go for a swim, explore the shops for cashew nuts, buy holiday wear or take an optional tour visiting “Goa of the past” mockup village which portrays Goa what it was 100 years ago.

 

Stay overnight at the beach resort.

 

Day 16: Goa – Delhi Departure
As per scheduled time you will be transferred to airport for onward flight for onward journey.
