Day 01:  Arrive Lhasa
On your arrival at International airport, transfer to your hotel for overnight stay.

 

Lhasa in Tibetan means "Place of the Gods", the residence of the Dalai Lama. It is sacred because of the figures of Songtsen Gampo and his two royal consorts and the figures of Sakyamuni brought from Chang' and Nepal. One thousand five hundred years ago Lhasa was known as Otang, which means, "plain flowing with milk," because of its rich pasture, good for grazing sheep and cattle. The Rasa Monastery soon became the Otang people's central place of worship, for it enshrined the gilded image of Sakyamuni brought from Chang's an by Princess Wen Cheng. In the course of time, the original name of the place was forgotten, and it became known simply as Rasa, which was gradually changed into Lhasa.

Day 02: In Lhasa
Morning you will proceed for full day sightseeing of Potala Palace, Jokhang monastery, Ramoche Monastery and & Norbulinka.

 

Visit Potala, which was constructed in 637 by Songtsen Gampo, the first king of the united Tibet and later reconstructed and served as the winter residence of the Dalai Lamas and Jokhang monastery, the center of the Tibetan Buddhism and the sacred land of Buddhist followers where innumerable pilgrims come for worship everyday. The temple, built in 647, is the earliest wood-and-masonry structure still existing in Tibet. Norbulingka meaning 'Treasure Park' covers an area of around 360000 sq. m. and is considered to be the biggest man made garden in Tibet.  

Later walk on the Barkhor Street nearby the temple, a big free market with its prolific stalls for selling local specialties.

Day 03: In Lhasa
Morning you will proceed for full day sightseeing of Drepung Monastery & Sera monastery. 

 

Drepung Monastery is one the three greatest Buddhist temples in Lhasa together with Sera and Ganden Monasteries.

 

Visit Drepung Monastery for the whole morning, later after drive to Sera Monastery, have a little hike for the beautiful valley scenery nearby and picnic there, in the afternoon, visit Sera monastery, which was created in 1419 and has always been an important Buddhist seminary. As rose are planted everywhere in the monastery, it is also called “the court of wild rose”.

Day 04: Lhasa-Tsedang
Today we will drive to Tsedang, located by Yarlung Valley, is the capital of Shannan Prefecture. It's reputed as "the cradle of Tibetan Civilization", mainly for two reasons: First, the mild weather and fertile land in Shannan gestated the great Tibet dynasty. Second, it's the birthplace of the first Tibetans who were said to be the offspring of a monkey and a demoness.


So Tsedang literally means "monkey's playground" and today will visit Yumbulakang and Trundruk monastery.


Day 05: Tsedang - Samye Monastery
Today’s visit is to Samya Monastery which is the first one built in the 7th century and has three building with different style (Tibetan Hans and India) and will be stay one night in Samye monasatery.


Day 06: Samye monasatery to Chim-puk hermitage back to Tsedang
Chim-puk is north–east of Samye monastery. It is a warren of caves that was once a retreat for Guru Rinpoche. It is a popular day hike for the travelers. The walk takes around four or five hours up and three hours down. Take some water with you. If you are lucky you might find a pilgrim truck headed up and some different animals and birds and suck fox. There is also 108 meditation cave, 108 spring river and 108 sky burial.


Later drive to Tsedang and on arrival check-in into the hotel for overnight stay.


Day 07: Tsedang – Gongka – Chengdu

Morning as per schedule you will be transferred to Gongka airport and take flight to Chengdu. Arrive at Chengdu airport and board on connecting flight for onward destination.
