Day 01: Arrive in Lhasa
On your arrival at International airport, transfer to your hotel for overnight stay.

 

Lhasa in Tibetan means "Place of the Gods", the residence of the Dalai Lama. It is sacred because of the figures of Songtsen Gampo and his two royal consorts and the figures of Sakyamuni brought from Chang' and Nepal. One thousand five hundred years ago Lhasa was known as Otang, which means, "plain flowing with milk," because of its rich pasture, good for grazing sheep and cattle.The Rasa Monastery soon became the Otang people's central place of worship, for it enshrined the gilded image of Sakyamuni brought from Chang's an by Princess Wen Cheng. In the course of time, the original name of the place was forgotten, and it became known simply as Rasa, which was gradually changed into Lhasa

Day 02: In Lhasa
Morning you will proceed for full day sightseeing of Potala Palace, Ramoche Monastery and & Norbulinka.

 

Potala Palace, this legendary palace built atop a single hill is synonymous with Tibet by the first foremost king Songtsen Gompa. Norbulingka meaning 'Treasure Park' covers an area of around 360000 sq. m. and is considered to be the biggest man made garden in Tibet.

Day 03: In Lhasa
Morning you will proceed for full day sightseeing of Drepung Monastery

 

Drepung Monastery is one the three greatest Buddhist temples in Lhasa together with Sera and Ganden Monasteries. This temple was originally built in 1416 when the Buddhist Gelug Sect was in the golden time.

 

Visit Drepung Monastery for the whole morning, later, visit Sera monastery, which was created in 1419 and has always been an important Buddhist seminary. As rose are planted everywhere in the monastery, it is also called “the court of wild rose”. Today still 200 Lamas live in there. Catch the famous debate session of the monks before returning back to Lhasa.
 

 In evening you could learn the process of how to make Tibetan joss stick, or Tibetan porcelain, or Thangka, etc. Or you could learn how Tibetans turn the yak dung into a good fuel, or how they gather in the harvest. You could join into them if you want. Different season, different activities.

Day 04: Tibet Nunnery and Monastery
Morning enjoy Tibetan tea in Ani Sangkhung Nunnery tea house, a short hiking into Tibet nature.

 

Ani Sangkhung Nunnery is small, friendly and active nunnery is the only one within the precincts of the old Tibetan quarter. The site of the nunnery probably dates back to the 7th century, but is housed a monastery until at least the 15th century. The principal image, upstairs on the 2nd floor, is a thousand-armed Chenresing. A small alley to the side of the main chapel heads down to the former meditation chamber of Songtsen Gampo, the 7th-century king of Tibet. The busy nuns run a great teahouse in the courtyard.

 

Then drive to Sera Monastery, have a little hike for the beautiful valley scenery nearby and picnic there, in the afternoon,

 

Day 05: Depart Lhasa
Morning you will be free for independent activities and later as per scheduled transferred you to the airport to board on fight for onward journey.
