Delhi & Colombo Tour

Day 01: Arrive Delhi
On your arrival at International airport, transfer to your hotel for overnight stay.

Delhi, India’s modern capital is also an ancient city tracing its origins in legend.  It is dotted with hundreds of landmarks and offers more than a millennium of history in stone.  From here various Hindu and Muslim dynasties including the Mughal’s ruled India. When British administration moved to Delhi and New Delhi became the Capital of India once again.


Day 02: In Delhi
Full day take the tour of New Delhi & Old Delhi.

 

Morning proceed for sightseeing of New Delhi, Visit Qutub Minar, One of the fine examples of early afghan architecture, Humayun Tomb, built by the wife of Humayun, Haji Begum in the mid 16th century, this red sand stone structure is considered to be the predecessor of Taj Mahal,  Drive pass by India Gate (A War memorial) and Presidency House.


Afternoon proceed for sightseeing of Old Delhi, include the drive past to Red Fort, visit to Jama Masjid, Commissioned by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and completed in the year 1656 AD, it is one of the largest and best-known mosques, and later enjoy cycle rickshaw ride within Chandani Chowk market.

Day 03: Delhi – Agra (205Kms /4 & ½Hrs on-way)
Early morning drive to Agra, visit Sikandra en route.

 

Akbar's tomb at Sikandra has a large arched entrance and green lawns, the entrance is decorated with marble inlay work around the arch, and the inner surface of the dome of the tomb is decorated with images of flowers, geometric designs and Islamic calligraphy.

 

Later continue drive to Agra on arrival check in into hotel. Afternoon take Half day tour of Agra.

 

Agra is famous as being home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World-the Taj Mahal. The architectural splendour of the mausoleums, the fort and the palaces is a vivid remainder of the capital in the 16th and early 17th centuries. A pleasant town with comparatively slow pace, the city is also famous for its carpets, gold thread embroidery and leather shoes. Agra was once the capital of the Mughal Empire.

 

Visiting Taj Mahal, the monument of love built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in sweet memory of his wife after she died in 1631. Later visit the Agra Fort; this was built by Emperor Akbar in 1565. And Itimid-ud-Daulah Tomb, which is also known as Mini Taj because of its resemblance; however it was built before the Taj Mahal. 

Stay overnight at hotel.

 

Day 04: Agra -Delhi - Colombo
In the morning proceed to Delhi by surface and on arrival straight drive to international airport to connect flight fto Colombo and on arrival check-in into the hotel for overnight stay.

 

Colombo the capital of Srilanka and is located on the west coast of the island. The city is a bustling metropolis, the city is an attractive blend of old and new. It has the lazy charm of the bygone era combined with the verve and vivaciousness of a modern city. Colombo is an ideal location to start the Sri Lanka sojourn.nad the city is also home to a majority of the Srilanka’s corporate office and entertainment venues. 

 

Day 05: In Colombo
Morning proceed for a city sightseeing tour

 

Visit the Fort, Slave Island, where the slaves had their night quarters, Mount Lavinia – the famous beach, Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara – the famous Buddhist temple, Wolvendaal Church – the oldest Dutch church. also visit House of Fashion, ODEL, Noritake ceramic shop & a local souvenir shop.

Rest of the day you are free for independent activities.
Stay overnight at your hotel.

 

Day 06: Colombo - Kandy
In the morning proceed for Kandy by surface, enroute visit the Pinnawela an Elephant Orphanage.

Pinnawela is the only one of its kind in the world. It’s a conservation project for orphaned and injured elephants, where you will be able to see the little jumbos being fed and bathed in the nearby river.

 

Afternoon continue drive to Kandy and on arrival check-in into hotel for overnight stay.

 

Kandy is a World Heritage Site and the name Kandy was derived by the colonial rulers from the word Kanda in Sinhala, meaning a hill. Kandy was the stronghold of the Sinhalese kings, who promoted and protected the local culture until the city fell to the British in 1815. Kandy is famous for the Kandy Perahara-a huge cultural pageant that takes place in the month of July or August. It is one of the most colorful processions of the world. Thousands of drummers and dancers accompanying a parade of ornamented elephants perform in the streets of Kandy. 

 

Day 07: In Kandy
Morning proceed for a city sightseeing tour


The Kandy town and bazaar, the arts and crafts centre, a gem museum and a lapidary. Also visit the Temple of the Tooth also known as Dalda Maligawa. it is also one of the most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage sites in the world. Also visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, provides an amazing variety of trees, plants and flowers.

 

Thereafter you will proceed for Colombo and on arrival check-in into the hotel for overnight stay.

 

Day 08: Departure Colombo
