India & Sub–Continents Tour

Day 01:  Arrive Delhi
On your early morning arrival at International airport, transfer to your hotel.

 

Delhi, India’s modern capital is also an ancient city tracing its origins in legend.  It is dotted with hundreds of landmarks and offers more than a millennium of history in stone.  From here various Hindu and Muslim dynasties including the Mughals ruled India. When British administration moved to Delhi and New Delhi became the Capital of India once again.

 

Full day take the tour of New Delhi & Old Delhi.

 

Visiting Qutub Minar, One of the fine examples of early afghan architecture, Humayun Tomb, built by the wife of Humayun, Haji Begum in the mid 16th century, and this red sand stone structure is considered to be the predecessor of Taj Mahal.  Drive pass by India Gate (A War memorial) and Presidency House.

 

Afternoon proceed for sightseeing of Old Delhi, include the drive past to Red Fort, visit to Jama Masjid, Commissioned by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and completed in the year 1656 AD, it is one of the largest and best-known mosques, and later enjoy cycle rickshaw ride within Chandani Chowk market.

Day 02: Delhi – Leh
In time transfer to domestic airport to board flight for Leh and on arrival at Leh transfer your hotel.

Rest of the day you are free for independent activities.

Day 03: In Leh         
Full day excursion to monasteries,

 

Thikshey is impressive Gompa, there are several temples in the gompa containing images, stupas and wall paintings of Buddha which are exquisite. Shey Palace, This Palace Monastery has the largest statue of Maitreya Buddha (Buddha to come) in Ladakh.
Visit Thiksey monastery it is quite interesting to visit the monastery early in the morning to see praying cermoney and visit one of the biggest Monastery of Leh "Hemis" On the way back visit Shey Palace.

 

Return to hotel for overnight stay.

 

Day 04: In Leh

Spitok village, its spacious rooftops command superb views. There is the grave of a very high reincarnation at the Gompa and the Spitok head Lama is also the head Lama of the Sankar Gompa in Leh. He also represents Ladakh as a member of the Indian Parliament. Gurphug in Stok and Pashi Gephel in Sabu are also under monasteries of Spitok. The Gompa has three chapels of which the highest, the Paldan Lumo temple (Kali Mater), is the most impressive. The temple Gonkhang is approximately a thousand years old. Phyang built by kind Lkra-Shis_namgyal, founder of Namgyal Dynasty, in 1500 after defeating the last of the Lah-Chen King and is the home of the Sri Khing Pa sect (Red Capped).

Morning take a half day tour of Spituk and Phyang Monastery.

 

Afternoon you will visit to Kings Palace, Leh Mosque, Leh Gompa, and Shankar Gompa.

Day 05: Excursion Alchi (75 Kms One-way)
Full day proceed for an excursion to Basgo fort and Alchi monastery.

Alchi is one of the most significant historical sites in Asia. Yet the Chos-khor, or "religious enclave", at Alchi, harbours an extraordinary wealth of ancient wall paintings and wood sculpture, miraculously preserved for over nine centuries inside five tiny mud walled temples. The Chos-khor consists of five separate temples, various residential buildings and a scattering of large Chortens, surrounded by a mud and stonewall and a curtain of tall poplar trees. If one is pushed for time, concentrate on the two oldest buildings, the Du-khang and the Sumtsek, both in the middle of the enclosure.


Return to hotel for overnight stay.

 

Day 06: Leh – Delhi
In time you will transfer to airport to board flight for Delhi, and on arrival transfer to hotel for overnight stay.
Leave Delhi for Bagdorga by flight and on arrival transfer to Darjeeling to check-in into hotel.

 

The rest of the day is at leisure. 

 

The cool climate of Darjeeling provides a delightfully different experience from most other parts of India. The town nestled in the lap of the mighty Kanchenjunga and it is a mixture of old colonial charm, bustling bazaars and the lush tea gardens, to the beautiful natural scenic views and a wide variety of activities, lush tea gardens, terraced farms and a slower pace of life.

Day 07: In Darjeeling

Full day take the tour of Darjeeling.

 

Early morning you will drive to Tiger Hill to witness the sunrise over the fabulous views of the famous Mt. Kanchendzonga (28,208 ft) (subject to clear weather conditions). On way back to the hotel visit Ghoom Monastery a Tibetan Buddhist monastery.


Afternoon, proceed on a sightseeing tour of Darjeeling.

 

Enjoy a tour of the various tea estates and visit the local monasteries and the flower nurseries.

Day 08: In Darjeeling
Full day you are free for independent activities or optional you can enjoy the toy train visit.

 

The trip from new Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling by the 'Toy Train' is a memorable experience. Among the places of interest are observatory hill an excellent place for a view of Kanchenjunga and Himalayas, Ghoom Monastery, Alcobar Monastery, Himalaya Mountaineering Institute, Zoological Park, Tiger Hill and Llyod botanical gardens.

Day 09: Darjeeling – Kalimpong (51 Kms/ 1 & ½ Hrs)
In the morning you will visit at leisure to visit the local monasteries and the flower nurseries.

 

Later dive to Kalimpong on arrival check in at hotel for overnight stay.

Kalimpong is a unique extravaganza typical to rural regions, a cultural experience you will never forget. , the picturesque town of Kalimpong is definitely a place to visit in this region. Once a part of Sikkim, this town is was an important centre for trade and commerce for Tibetans from the north and the headquarters of the Governor of Bhutan. If you like going for long walks, this is where you should head for. The temperate climate and sylvan surroundings makes it an ideal place for spending a restful weekend.  

 

Afternoon you will walk down to the “Haat Bazaar” or local market – a place where villagers from all nearby villages come & sell/display their wares (right from handicrafts to food items).

Day 10:  Darjeeling – Pelling
In the morning you will drive to Pelling and on arrival check-in into the hotel.
 Afternoon you will visit Pemayangste Monastery.

Day 11: Pelling – Gangtok
In the morning you will drive to Gangtok via Rumtek Monastery, Tibetology & do Drul Chorten.


Gangtok means ‘Hilltop’, one, which was made flat in 1716 to build the Gangtok Monastery.  Today, the town has grown into a busy, bustling city with pagoda-style houses, painted turquoise roofs and colorful, people-thronged bazaars.

 

Afternoon you will proceed on a city tour of Gangtok

Visiting to Research Institute Of Tibetology -a library with a large collection of documents and rare books on Buddhism and an attached museum with a rare collection of antiques, coins and Tibetan Paintings, Orchid Sanctuary with over 200 species of orchids amidst beautiful landscape and Rumtek Monstery – an exact replica of the monastery at Tsurphu in Tibet.  Afternoon city tour covers TSUKLAKHANG, Royal Chapel of the Chogyals.

Day 12: Gangtok – Phuntsholing
In the morning you will drive to Phuntsholing and on arrival check-in into the hotel.
Evening you will stroll around the local animated market.

Day 13:  Phuntsholing – Thimpu (176 Kms -06 Hours drive)

In the morning you will drive to Thimpu and on arrival check-in into the hotel.

Thimphu is the Capital to the tiny Himalayan kingdom Bhutan. Thimphu is a gallery of traditional Bhutanese art, architecture, culture, and tradition and above all still so ethnic and pure. Full of wonderful Hand woven textiles, woodcarving, and tailor made clothing, jewelry. And it is said that Thimphu is the only world capital without traffic lights.


Day 14: In Thimpu
In the morning you will be driven to en-route we will be able to see the Tachogang Monastery and we will come across three different styles of Chortens adorn the confluence, Before arriving Thimphu, visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress of the Kingdom, built in 1627.


Afternoon proceed for sightseeing city tour of Thimpu
Visit Tashichho Dzong, the main Government Secretariat building, where the government ministries, the Office of His Majesty the King and the Throne Room, the offices and living quarters of the monk body and the Chief Abbot are housed.


Later we will visit the painting and woodcrafts schools where traditional painting and other arts are kept alive, visit the National Library and see the ancient manuscripts preserved there, visit Jungshi paper factory, third king’s memorial Chortens,
Evening you will stroll around Thimphu town.

Day 15:  Thimpu – Paro (65 Kms/ 02 Hrs)
In the morning you will drive to Paro and on arrival check-in into the hotel.
Paro one of Bhutan's most impressive and well-known Dzong, and the finest example of Bhutanese architecture. The inward-sloping walls form a massive structure that towers over the town and is visible as a great white monolith from vantage points throughout the valley. 
                                                   
Full day we take city tour of Paro.

 

Visiting of the Drukgley Dzong and on a clear day the 24,000 ft. white domed peak of sacred Chomolhari (Mt. of Goddess) looms overhead. A visit to the National Museum housed in an ancient watch tower, which has a fine collection of Thangkha, textiles, weapons, and artefacts-short walk to Paro Rimpung Dzong.

 

Day 16: Paro - Kathmandu
In the morning as per scheduled you will be transferred to airport to board flight to Kathmandu and on arrival Kathmandu met and transfer to the hotel.
Kathmandu the capital of the Nepal Kingdom, surrounded by green hills and mountains with snow capped peaks against its northern and eastern background the Valley is indeed beautiful. There are complex examples of Nepal’s art and architecture all round. 
Rest of the evening is free to enjoy exploring local animated markets,

Day 17: In Kathmandu
Enjoy a full day city tour of Kathmandu,


Visiting temples of Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, temple of the living and Also visit Residence of the Living Goddess near the Durbar Square, which is residence of Kumari, the Living Goddess (Virgin Goddess).  Its wooden balconies and windows are profusely carved.


Afternoon city tour of Kathmandu city includes Hanuman Dhoka, the historic palace of the ancient kings of Nepal.  A complex of many temples and monuments, guarded by a huge statue of the Monkey God, Hanuman, it has evolved to its present state of maturity over a period of centuries with contributions from a number of dynasties, headed by Malla kings.  It is here that the kings of Nepal are crowned, and their coronations solemnized.  There are complex examples of Nepal’s art and architecture all round.

Day 18: Kathmandu – Lhasa
In the morning as per scheduled departure transfer to airport to board on flight to Lhasa, and on arrival you will be transferred to hotel.

 

Rest of the day you will be free for independent activities.

 

Lhasa at an altitude of 3,650 mt, is situated on the north bank of Kyichu River. Lhasa in Tibetan means "Place of the Gods", the residence of the Dalai Lama. It is sacred because of the figures of Songster Gompa and his two royal consorts and the figures of Sakyamuni brought from Chang' and Nepal. One thousand five hundred years ago Lhasa was known as Otang, which means, "plain flowing with milk," because of its rich pasture, good for grazing sheep and cattle. The Rasa Monastery soon became the Otang people's central place of worship, for it enshrined the gilded image of Sakyamuni brought from Chang's an by Princess Wen Cheng. In the course of time, the original name of the place was forgotten, and it became known simply as Rasa, which was gradually changed into the Lhasa.

Day 19: In Lhasa
Morning you will proceed for full day sightseeing of Heritage Sites of Potola Palace, Jokhang Temple.

Visit Potala, which was constructed in 637 by Songtsen Gampo, the first king of the united Tibet and later reconstructed and served as the winter residence of the Dalai Lamas. and Jokhang monastery, the center of the Tibetan Buddhism and the sacred land of Buddhist followers where innumerable pilgrims come for worship everyday. The temple, built in 647, is the earliest wood-and-masonry structure still existing in Tibet.
Later explore the bustling bazaar along the Barkhor Street.

Day 20: Lhasa – Kathmandu – Delhi
In the morning as per scheduled departure transfer to airport to board on flight to Kathmandu. Arrive Kathmandu and take a connecting flight for Delhi and on arrival you will be met and transferred to hotel.


Day 21: Delhi Departure
In the morning as per scheduled you will be transferred to international airport of Delhi to take the flight to your onward destination.
