Rajasthan and North – East India Tour

Places to visit: Delhi - Jaipur - Ranthambhore - Bharatpur - Delhi  - Delhi - Guwahati – Shillong – Cherrapunjee – Kaziranga National Park – Kohima – Touphema – Dimori Cove – Khonoma – Kohima – Jorhat – Majuli – Guwahati - Delhi  


Day 01: Arrive Delhi
On your early morning arrival at International airport, transfer to your hotel.

Delhi, India’s modern capital is also an ancient city tracing its origins in legend.  It is dotted with hundreds of landmarks and offers more than a millennium of history in stone.  From here various Hindu and Muslim dynasties including the Mughals ruled India. When British administration moved to Delhi and New Delhi became the Capital of India once again.

 

Full day take the tour of New Delhi & Old Delhi.

 

Morning proceed for sightseeing of New Delhi, visit Qutub Minar, One of the fine examples of early afghan architecture, Humayun Tomb, built by the wife of Humayun, Haji Begum in the mid 16th century, this red sand stone structure is considered to be the predecessor of Taj Mahal.  Drive pass by India Gate (A War memorial) and Presidency House.


Afternoon proceed for sightseeing of Old Delhi, include the drive past to Red Fort, visit to Jama Masjid, Commissioned by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and completed in the year 1656 AD, it is one of the largest and best-known mosques, and later enjoy cycle rickshaw ride within Chandani Chowk market.

Day 02: Delhi - Jaipur

Morning you will proceed for Jaipur and on arrival check-in into the hotel. Rest of the day you will be free for independent activities

Jaipur has been like that since 1727 when Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II had it built. And In 1876 A.D. Jaipur dressed itself in pink to welcome Prince Albert, consort of Queen Victoria and earned the epitaph ‘PINK CITY', it is also a home of excellent handicrafts especially known for the exquisite gold jewellery enameled or inlaid with precious stones, blue pottery, carving on wood, stone & ivory, block print, tie & dye textiles, hand made paper, miniature painting etc.


Day 03: In Jaipur
Morning we take an excursion to the Amber Fort and afternoon visit the city.


Visiting impressive Amber Fort situated on a ridge just outside Jaipur City. At the foot of the hill you will mount your caparisoned elephant for the slow but steady climb up to the main gate, The Fort, completed in the early 18th century, took over 100 years to build and now, although deserted, offers a fascinating insight into the lifestyle of the Moghul ruling families. A royal elephant ride to ascend the fort (depending upon the availability else by jeep). Also visit Sheesh Mahal or the Hall of Victory glittering with mirrors.

 

Next visit Maharaja's City Palace, the Observatory, & Ram Niwas Gardens. Later stop at Hawa Mahal (Wind Palace) for photography. Hawa Mahal was built in 1799, its original intention was to allow royal ladies to observe everyday life in the street below without being seen.

Day 04: Jaipur - Ranthambhore

Morning you will drive to Ranthambhore and on arrival check- in into hotel.


Ranthambore Fort is a formidable fort and has been a focal point of historical developments of Rajasthan. It is surrounded the famous Ranthambore National Park which was formerly the hunting grounds for the Maharajahs of Jaipur.


Afternoon proceed for 1st Jeep safari to Ranthambhore National Park to view the wild life & bird species.

Stay overnight at the wildlife resort.

 

Day 05: In Ranthambore
After tea / coffee, early morning proceed for 2nd jeep safari to the park with packed breakfast, later visit The Ganesh Temple and The Ranthambore Fort is an impressive historic monument spreads over an area of 7 Km and offers spectacular views of the National Park Ranthambore.

 

Afternoon you will be free to take rest at hotel.

Evening proceed for 3rd Jeep safari to Ranthambhore National Park to view the wild life & bird species.

Day 06: Ranthambhore - Bharatpur

Morning you will drive to Bharatpur and on arrival check-in into hotel.
Later visit Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary on rickshaws.


Morning take cycle rickshaw/ bicycle ride to the bird sanctuary to view the migrating birds.


The most Spectacular water- bird Sanctuary features nesting indigenous water- birds and migratory birds. Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary (Keoladeo Ghana National Park) is a reserve that offers protection to faunal species as well. Nesting indigenous water- birds as well as migratory water birds and waterside birds, this sanctuary is also inhabited by Sambar, Chital, Nilgai and Boar.

Day 07: Bharatpur - Delhi

In the morning you will drive to Delhi and on arrival check-in into the hotel for overnight stay.


Day 08: Delhi - Guwahati – Shillong
In time transfer to airport to board flight for Guwahati and on arrival you will be met and proceed for Shillong by surface.
Later arrive and check-in into the hotel. Rest of the day are free for independent activities.

Day 09: Guwahati - Shillong (100 Kms/03 Hrs)
In the morning you will proceed for sight seeing tour of Guwahati


Visit Kamakhya Temple Kalakshetra, for a Glimpse of Assamese culture & tradition, Bashistha Ashram and a Major Hindu Pilgrimage site. Next visit to Bhubaneshwari, from where one can have a bird's eye view of the Guwahati.


Later drive to Shillong enroute at Borapani Umiam Lake, a majestic placid lake with its surrounding sylvan hills and on arrival at Shillong check-in into the hotel.

Afternoon sightseeing at Shillong

Visit Shillong peak, Elephant falls, Mawsmai cave, Mawsmai falls and Thangkharam park(which overlooks panoramic plains of Bangladesh.

Day 10: Excursion to Cherrapunjee
In the morning you will drive to Cherrapunjee and on arrival check-in into the hotel.


Cherrapunjee is the wettest place in the world. See the beautiful waterfall – Nohkalikai. Explore caves in and around Cherrapunjee. Return to Shillong visiting en route Elephanta Falls and Shillong Peak for some breathtaking views.

Day 11: Shillong – Kaziranga (280 Kms/05 Hrs)
Morning you will drive to Kaziranga the home of unicorn rhino and on arrival check-in into hotel for overnight stay.

 

Kaziranga National Park is consisting of dense forest, rugged reeds, marshes and shallow pools. Elephant grass grows up to a few meters making it an ideal grazing ground for the famed One Horned Rhinoceros. It is also a habitat of many mammals, including tigers, elephants, panthers and bears and thousand of birds.

Day 12: In Kaziranga
Morning elephant safari to the National Park

Explore central Range of Kaziranga National Park on Elephant Safari.


Elephants moved in a group through the grazing ground taking us closest we could be to the wild ones. Ride an Elephant through the park chasing a unicorn rhino along with a wide range of rare species.


On return explore the eastern range on a jeep safari.


Return for lunch and proceed to Western Range of Kaziranga National Park by elephant ride.

Day 13: in Kaziranga
In the early morning explore central area of Kaziranga National Park by an exciting elephant safari.

 

Ride an elephant through the park chasing one-horned rhinos. The park is very famous for one-horned rhinos. Other animals found in the park is elephants, tigers, leopards, swamp deer, buffalos, wild boars, hog deer, gaurs, sambars, golden jackals, sloth bear, mongooses, hares, flying squirrels, golden langurs, etc. Spend rest of the day at leisure to explore the nature.

Day 14: Kaziranga - Kohima - Touphema Village (225 Kms/5 Hrs)
In the morning you will proceed for Kohima and on arrival proceed to Touphema Village Resort.


The Touphema Village is situated on hillock with panoramic views of the surrounding valleys at a distance of 41 km north of Nagaland capital Kohima. The village offers exquisite traditional Naga life in the lap of nature.

 

Met the Villagers in Touphema, a community of Angami Naga later you will enjoy cultural presentation.

Day 15: Touphema - Kohima

In the morning you will proceed for Kohima and on arrival check–in into the hotel


Kohima is derived from the “Kew Hi” is the name of a plant grown on the mountainside. “Kew Hi Ma” means “the men of the land where the flower Kew Hi grows”. Earlier, Kohima was known as “Thigoma”. It is the centre for Naga Culture. It Artifacts, handlooms, & Handicrafts, Tools & Implements, Gems & Jewelry, Coins & Ancient weaponry will give you an idea of the rich Culture and Heritage of the native people.

Afternoon Visit the Kohima War Cemetery, where one of the fiercest battles was fought, State Museum, located at Bayani hill Kohima. Also visit Catholic Church on Aradhurah Hill, Naga Bazaar displays dioramas of the lifestyle of the Naga tribes.

 

Late Afternoon proceed to Kepfiizha (Kigwema village) and for best trekking on beautiful Dzukuo Valley. The best way to explore Kohima is on a Motorcycle.


Return to Kohima for overnight at hotel.


Day 16: Kohima (Excursion to Dimori Cove)
In the morning you will visit the Kohima War Cemetery, where one of the fiercest battles was fought, State Museum, located at Bayani hill Kohima. Also visit Catholic Church on Aradhurah Hill, Naga Bazaar displays dioramas of the lifestyle of the Naga tribes.

 

Late Afternoon proceed to Kepfiizha (Kigwema village) and for best trekking on beautiful Dzukuo Valley. The best way to explore Kohima is on a Motorcycle.
Return to Kohima for overnight at hotel.


Day 17: In Khonoma
In the morning you will visit Angami Tribal Village of Khonoma. This village located on top of a hillock has a pastoral beauty of its own. This was where the last part of the Anglo Naga War was fought. Return to Kohima for dinner and overnight stay.


Early in the morning, we will drive to Jorhat and on arrival at Jorhat check-in into the hotel.

 

The Tea capital of the world Jorhat is an important agricultural town for Assam. Since the time of British rule, Jorhat has been the main center for tea cultivation. Before the British Raj in 1824, it was the capital of Ahom Kingdom.
Jorhat is also famous for Majuli Island which is the largest river island in the world.

Afternoon you will visit to a nearby village to see Assamese villagers culture and tradition to see the simplicity of their lives.

Day 18: Jorhat – Majuli

In the morning you will drive to Majuli the biggest River Island in the world and seat of Baishnavite monasteries.

Majuli is the largest fresh water mid-river deltaic island in the world and a principal place of pilgrimage for the Vaishnavites of Assam since the Ahom days. There are several Satras of Vaishnava religious creed. Of these holy seats, Auniati, Daksinpath, Garamur and Kamlabari are the four most prominent. The island is a bio-diversity hotspot and has rich ecology with rare breeds of flora and fauna. 

In the evening enjoy the cultural display by the artists. Stay overnight at the Govt. circuit house at Majuli. 

 

Day 19: Majuli - Guwahati (340 Kms/06hrs)
Early morning drive to Guwahati and arrival check-in into your hotel for overnight stay
 
Day 20: Guwahati – Delhi
In time transfer to airport to board flight for Delhi and on arrival you will be met and transferred to hotel for day use. Later evening as per scheduled you will be transferred to international airport to connect flight for onward journey.
