Nepal & Tibet Experience

Places to visit: Kathmandu – Nagarkot - Chitwan – Lumbini – Kathmandu – Lhasa - Kathmandu


Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu
On arrival at international airport, you will be transferred to your hotel for overnight stay.

 

Kathmandu the capital and cultural hub of Nepal Kingdom, surrounded by green hills and mountains with snow capped peaks against its northern and eastern background the Valley is indeed beautiful. There are complex examples of Nepal’s art and architecture all round. 


Day 02: Kathmandu – Nagarkot
Enjoy a full day city tour of Kathmandu,

 

Visiting temples of Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, temple of the living and Also visit Durbar Square, which is residence of Kumari, the Living Goddess (Virgin Goddess), its wooden balconies and windows are profusely carved. Later visit Hanuman Dhoka, the historic palace of the ancient kings of Nepal.  A complex of many temples and monuments, guarded by a huge statue of the Monkey God, It is here that the kings of Nepal are crowned, and their coronations solemnized.


Later proceed for Nagarkot, to see sunset view form Nagarkot and on arrival check-in into the hotelfor overnight stay at hotel.

 

Day 03: Nagarkot – Chitwan (265 Kms / 06 Kms)
Morning take the sun rise view form Nagarkot and later drive to Chitwan and on arrival check-in into the hotel / resort.

Chitwan, located at the foothills of the Himalayas, Chitwan is famous for its rich flora, fauna and wildlife, especially the single-horned Asiatic rhinoceros and the Royal Bengal tiger! On arrival in Chitwan, check into your hotel. 

Rest of the evening is free to enjoy for nature walks.

 Day 04: In Chitwan
In the morning Jeep Safari at Chitwan National Park

 

Early morning, proceed on a safari in jeeps into the Royal Chitwan National Park, passing through Sal forests, riverine vegetation and 'elephant grass' savannah. Spot different species of birds, butterflies and the most famous single-horned Asian rhinoceros. If lucky you will spot the Royal Bengal tiger.

 

Rest of the afternoon is free for nature walks. 

 

Day 05: Chitwan – Lumbini
Morning proceed on a picturesque drive to the enchanting city of Lumbini, and on arrival, check into your hotel for overnight stay.

 

Lumbini is the hallowed birthplace of Siddhartha Gautam, the Shakya prince, the eventual Shakyamuni and the ultimate Buddha - the Enlightened One. This nativity site, identified by Emperor Ashoka’s commemorative pillar erected over 2,200 years ago. The Pillar was erected by Emperor Ashoka in 249 BC to commemorate his pilgrimage to the sacred site. The inscription on it authenticates Lumbini as the place where the Buddha was born in 623 BC.


Day 06: In Lumbini
Morning proceed for sight seeing tour of Lumbani.

 

Visiting the important archaeological site, Tilaurkot, the ancient palace of King Suddodha (Siddhartha Gautam's father), where the Buddha spent his formative years as a Shakya Prince. The Kapilvastu Museum; the pottery, jewelry and ornaments are gathered in-house. End up the remarkable tour in Tilaurkot by visiting the shrines, monasteries and stupa near the sacred garden.

Day 07: Lumbini – Kathmandu
Morning we leave Lumbini by road and back to Kathmandu and on arrival check-in into the hotel.

Evening you will be free to visit local animated market.

Day 08: Kathmandu - Lhasa (By Flight)
Morning Departure transfer to the airport for flight to Lhasa, and on arrival transfer to hotel.

 

Lhasa at an altitude of 3,650 mt, is situated on the north bank of Kyichu River.


Lhasa in Tibetan means "Place of the Gods", the residence of the Dalai Lama. It is sacred because of the figures of Songtsen Gampo and his two royal consorts and the figures of Sakyamuni brought from Chang' an and Nepal. One thousand five hundred years ago Lhasa was known as Otang, which means, "plain flowing with milk," because of its rich pasture, good for grazing sheep and cattle.The Rasa Monastery soon became the Otang people's central place of worship, for it enshrined the gilded image of Sakyamuni brought from Chang's an by Princess Wen Cheng. In the course of time, the original name of the place was forgotten, and it became known simply as Rasa, which was gradually changed into Lhasa.

Day 09: In Lhasa
In the morning you will proceed for full day sightseeing of Potala Palace, Ramoche Monastery and & Norbulinka.

 

Potala Palace, this legendary palace built atop a single hill is synonymous with Tibet by the first foremost king Songtsen Gompa. Norbulingka meaning 'Treasure Park' covers an area of around 360000 sq. m. and is considered to be the biggest man made garden in Tibet.

Day 10: In Lhasa
In the morning you will proceed for full day sightseeing of Jokhang Monastery, Sera Monastery and Barkhor Market.

 

Sera Monastery, 5 Kms north of Lhasa and Sera setting is one of Lhasa's prettiest monasteries was once Jokhang Temple, situated in the heart of Old Lhasa, it houses Tibet's most precious religious relic, a golden Shakyamuni Buddha which was brought as a gift by the Chinese Princess Wen Cheng on the occasion of her wedding to the Tibetan King, Songtsen Gompo. At last visit to local animated Barkhot Market.

Stay overnight at your hotel.

 

Day 11: Lhasa- Kathmandu Departure
In time transfer to airport to connect return flight for Kathmandu, after reaching at Kathmandu airport board on connecting the fight for onward journey.
