Rustic Rajasthan Tour

Places to visit: Delhi - Mandawa - Bikaner – Jaisalmer – Jodhpur- Udaipur –Kota -  Pushkar – Jaipur – Agra - Delhi


Day 01: Delhi Arrival

On your early morning arrival at International airport, transfer to your hotel.

Delhi, India’s modern capital is also an ancient city tracing its origins in legend.  It is dotted with hundreds of landmarks and offers more than a millennium of history in stone.  From here various Hindu and Muslim dynasties including the Mughals ruled India. When British administration moved to Delhi and New Delhi became the Capital of India once again.


Full day take the tour of New Delhi & Old Delhi.

 

Morning proceed for sightseeing of New Delhi,  Visit Qutub Minar; One of the fine examples of early afghan architecture, Humayun Tomb; built by the wife of Humayun, Haji Begum in the mid 16th century, this red sand stone structure is considered to be the predecessor of Taj Mahal.  Drive pass by India Gate (A War memorial) and Presidency House.


Afternoon proceed for sightseeing of Old Delhi, include the drive past to Red Fort, visit to Jama Masjid, Commissioned by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and completed in the year 1656 AD, it is one of the largest and best-known mosques, and later enjoy cycle rickshaw ride within Chandani Chowk market.

Day 02: Delhi - Mandawa (250 Kms / 5 & ½Hrs)

After breakfast at hotel, proceed for Mandawa by surface and on arrival check–in into the hotel.

Mandawa former capital Shekhawati region famous for its beautiful heritage havelies and colorful frescos art works. Mandawa, a remote feudal principality in the centre of the Shekhawati region, was a trading outpost for the ancient caravan routes that stopped here from China and the Middle East. 

Morning proceed for sightseeing tour of Mandwa

Visit Mandawa Fort and explore the most important havelis (mansions) like Gulab Rai Haveli is famous for the erotic images, Bansidhar Newatia haveli is known for its curious Paintings, Chokhani, Ladia and Saraf havelies has beautiful frescoes, and temples of Shiva.

Day 03: Mandawa - Bikaner (190 Kms / 4 & ½Hrs)

Morning proceed for Bikaner by surface, and on arrival check-in into your hotel.

The city was founded by Rao Bika in 1486 and from its small origins it has developed into the fourth largest city in Rajasthan. The city is also known for its intricately carved Jharokas, desert city Bikaner is bolstered by imposing walls and has a 16th century fort housing old palaces, temples and a mosque. Founded by Raja Rai Singh, the fort is distinguished by its long range of 37 pavilions, a line of balconies and aerial windows of varying designs. An enormous arched doorway leads to the Joramal Temple.

Later proceed for an excursion of Junagarh Fort.
Junagarh Fort made of red sandstone, exhibits a wonderful mingling of Eastern and Western style. Built by Rai Singh between 1588 and 1593, has a 986-metre-long wall with 37 bastions. The fort and its palaces are profusely decorated with magnificent stone carvings.

Day 04:  Bikaner - Jaisalmer (330 Kms / 6 Hrs)

After breakfast at hotel, proceed for Jaisalmer by surface, and on arrival check-in into your hotel.

 

This desert fortress is one of Rajasthan's most exotic and unusual towns. Jaisalmer, an important ancient trading centre because of its strategic location on the camel trade routes, is often described as the 'golden city'. The havelis, built by merchants of the 19th century, are exquisitely carved from Golden-yellow sandstone and are still in a beautiful condition.

Later visit Jaisalmer Fort

The Fort known as Sonar Quila ‘the Golden fort’ is one of the largest of desert forts of the world. Manak Chowk, Salim Singh Ki Haveli (Mansion), Patwon-Ki Haveli-one of the largest and most elaborate Havelis in Jaisalmer, and Gadi sagar Lake.
Evening:  witness Sunset from the Cenotaphes with camel safari to Sam Sand Dunes.

Day 05: Jaisalmer - Jodhpur (290 Kms / 6 Hrs)
Morning drive to Jodhpur. En-route to Jodhpur visit Mandore gardens which offer a nice view, and on arrival check-in into your hotel.

On arrival installation at hotel for overnight stay.

Day 06: Jodhpur - Ranakpur - Udaipur (275 Kms / 6 Hrs)

Morning take a tour of Meharangarh Fort.

 

The Fort situated on a low sandstone Hill, including Moti-Mahal and Phool Mahal. Also visit Jaswant Thada, an imposing Marble Memorium built in 1899 and the museum located in the Umaid Public Gardens.

 

Later continue drive to Udaipur en-rout visit to Ranakpur,

Ranakpur Temples the Jain Temples built in the 15th century are situated in the lovely valley of the Aravali. Its surrounding is quiet & picturesque. Ranakpur has grand structures & beautiful sculpture. There are 1444 pillars in the temple and none of them are similar. The magic of light & shade is really awe inspiring. Surya Temple and other Jain Temples are side attractions.

 

On arrival at Udaipur check-in into your hotel for overnight stay.
Udaipur is also known as Venice of the East. The main City is situated around Lakes. Lake Pichola at Udaipur is one of the biggest human made lakes in the world. Udaipur is also described as the “City of Sunrise”. 

Day 07: In Udaipur

After breakfast at hotel, take a full day city tour of Udaipur.

 

Visiting the City Palace, an imposing edifice of granite and marble Also visit  Museum, Jagdish Temple and Sahelion Ki Bari, a Garden design in the early 18th century purely as a pleasure garden design, Jagdish Teple: Built by Maharana  Jagat Singh I in 1651 the temple enshrineses a black stone image of Lard Vishnu. There is a Brass image of Garuda the Lord Birdcarrier.


Enjoy a two-hour boat-ride on Lake Pichola, which is surrounded by hills on three sides.  From little islands in the Lake rise at the water’s edge palaces of pure white marble.

Day 08: Udaipur - Chittorgarh – Kota
Morning drive to Kota, visit Chittorgarh en-route.


Chittorgarh 113 Kms from Udaipur, the Fort of Chittor was originally built by mighty Bhim, one of the Pandava heroes of Mahabharata. Also visit the Vijay Sta mbh with nine storeys and 37 Mts high built by Maharana Kumbha to commemorate his victory over the Muslim rulers of Malwa and Gujarat in 1440. Kirti Stambh, the Tower of fame 22 meters high is covered with figures from Jain Pantheon.

Day 09: Kota - Bundi – Pushkar (300 Kms / 6 Hrs)

Morning drive to Pushkar, visit Bundi enroute.  

 

Bundi rises from a narrow gorge in rows of terraced gardens & arched Rajput houses like a two dimensional miniature painting imposed on the landscape. Visit the palace with its intricate spy-holes, secret trap doors and under ground passages. Also see the spectacularly ingenious water supply system.

 

Afternoon continue drive to Pushkar and on arrival check-in into hotel.
Pushkar lies on the shore of Pushkar Lake. It has five principal temples, many smaller temples and 52 Ghats where pilgrims descend to the lake to bathe in the sacred waters. One of the primary temples is the 14th century temple dedicated to Brahma, the Hindu god of creation. Very few temples to Lord Brahma exist anywhere in the world. Pushkar is also famous for its annual Pushkar Camel Fair.

Day 10: Pushkar – Ajmer - Jaipur (150 Kms / 3 Hrs)

After breakfast at hotel, take a tour of Pushkar.

Visiting Brahma Temple - This is the only temple in the world where Lord Brahma is worshiped and the main attraction of Pushkar. The temple has a special position in Hindu pantheons. There is life-size four-armed idol of Lord Brahma - the creator in the vestibule. Pushkar Lake - Pushkar Lake is another important attraction of Pushkar and it has immense significance for the followers of Hinduism. Savitri Temple -The temple is dedicated to Savitri, the wife of Lord Brahma and located on the top of the Ratnagiri Hill.


Later drive to Jaipur en route visit to Ajmer, and on arrival check- in into hotel.

Jaipur has been like that since 1727 when Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II had it built. And In 1876 A.D. Jaipur dressed itself in pink to welcome Prince Albert, consort of Queen Victoria and earned the epitaph ‘PINK CITY', it is also a home of excellent handicrafts especially known for the exquisite gold jewellery enameled or inlaid with precious stones, blue pottery, carving on wood, stone & ivory, block print, tie & dye textiles, hand made paper, miniature painting etc.


Day 11: In Jaipur

Morning we take a day excursion to the Amber Fort.

 

Amber was the capital of the Kachhwaha clan, till Jaipur was made the official capital in 1727. Situated on a crafty hill, is the royal elephant ride to ascend the fort (depending upon the availability else by jeep).

Later stop at Hawa Mahal (Wind Palace) for photography. Hawa Mahal was built in 1799, its original intention was to allow royal ladies to observe everyday life in the street below without being seen.

Day 12: Jaipur - Fatehpur Sikri – Agra (240 Kms / 5 Hrs)

Drive to Agra, enroute visit Fatehpur Sikri.

 

Fatehpur Sikri is 40 Kms from Agra and built by Emperor Akbar in 1569 and abandoned after 15 years due to scarcity of water. See the graceful buildings including the Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chisti, Panch Mahal and other Palaces.

On arrival at Agra check-in the hotel.

 

Agra is famous as being home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World-the Taj Mahal. The architectural splendour of the mausoleums, the fort and the palaces is a vivid remainder of the capital in the 16th and early 17th centuries. A pleasant town with comparatively slow pace, The city is also famous for its carpets, gold thread embroidery and leather shoes. Agra was once the capital of the Mughal Empire.


Later visit the world famous Taj Mahal built by the Moghul Emperor Shahjehan in 1630 for his Queen Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains. Later visit the Agra Fort containing the the Halls of Public and Private Audience. Also visit the Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daullah built by Empress Noorjehan in memory of her father.

Day 13: Agra – Delhi – Departure

Drive to Delhi. Hotel for day used. In time transfer to international airport connect flight for onward journey.
