Ladakh & Himanchal Tour

In this tour you are reaching high mountains, snow-covered peaks, beautiful green hills and slopes and quiet little resorts and hamlets makeup Himachal Pradesh India's most favourite Himalayan destination, and the highest motor able road in the world. Visiting the most charming and beautiful Kulu valley spread out its charm on either side of the river Beas. The valley is also famous for its exquisitely woven colorful hand made shawls.

Day 01:  Arrive Delhi

On your early morning arrival at International airport, transfer to your hotel.

 

Delhi, India’s modern capital is also an ancient city tracing its origins in legend.  It is dotted with hundreds of landmarks and offers more than a millennium of history in stone.  From here various Hindu and Muslim dynasties including the Mughals ruled India. When British administration moved to Delhi and New Delhi became the Capital of India once again.

After refresment at hotel proceed for full day sightseeing tour of New Delhi & Old Delhi.


Visiting Qutub Minar, One of the fine examples of early afghan architecture, Humayun Tomb, built by the wife of Humayun, Haji Begum in the mid 16th century, this red sand stone structure is considered to be the predecessor of Taj Mahal.  Drive pass by India Gate (A War memorial) and Presidency House.


Afternoon proceeds for sightseeing of Old Delhi, include the drive past to Red Fort, visit to Jama Masjid, Commissioned by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and completed in the year 1656 AD, it is one of the largest and best-known mosques, and later enjoy cycle rickshaw ride within Chandani Chowk market.

Day 02: Delhi – Leh

In time transfer to domestic airport to board flight for Leh and on arrival at Leh transfer your hotel. Rest of the day you are free for independent activities.

Day 03: In Leh

Full day excursion to visit monasteries,

 

Thikshey is impressive Gompas. There are several temples in the gompa containing images, stupas and wall paintings of Buddha which are exquisite. Shey Palace, This Palace Monastery has the largest statue of Maitreya Buddha (Buddha to come) in Ladakh.

Visit Thiksey monastery it is quite interesting to visit the monastery early in the morning to see praying cermoney and visit one of the biggest Monastery of Leh "Hemis". On the way back visit Shey Palace.

 

Return to hotel for overnight stay.

 

Day 04: In Leh

Spitok village, its spacious rooftops command superb views. There is the grave of a very high reincarnation at the Gompa and the Spitok head Lama is also the head Lama of the Sankar Gompa in Leh. He also represents Ladakh as a member of the Indian Parliament. Gurphug in Stok and Pashi Gephel in Sabu are also under monasteries of Spitok. The Gompa has three chapels of which the highest, the Paldan Lumo temple (Kali Mater), is the most impressive. The temple Gonkhang is approximately a thousand years old. Phyang built by kind Lkra-Shis_namgyal, founder of Namgyal Dynasty, in 1500 after defeating the last of the Lah-Chen King and is the home of the Sri Khing Pa sect (Red Capped).

Morning take a half day tour of Spituk and Phyang Monastery.

 

Afternoon you will visit to Kings Palace, Leh Mosque, Leh Gompa, and Shankar Gompa.

Day 05: Excursion Alchi (75 Kms One-way)

Alchi is one of the most significant historical sites in Asia. Yet the Chos-khor, or "religious enclave", at Alchi, harbours an extraordinary wealth of ancient wall paintings and wood sculpture, miraculously preserved for over nine centuries inside five tiny mud walled temples. The Chos-khor consists of five separate temples, various residential buildings and a scattering of large Chortens, surrounded by a mud and stonewall and a curtain of tall poplar trees. If one is pushed for time, concentrate on the two oldest buildings, the Du-khang and the Sumtsek, both in the middle of the enclosure.


Full day excursion to Basgo fort and Alchi monastery.

Return to hotel for overnight stay.

 

Day 06: Leh - Sarchu (250 Kms)

Full day drive to Sarchu via Upshi and we have to cross second highest motorable pass in world (Tanglangla Pass 5350 Mtrs.)

Enjoy the nature beauty of the mountains continue drive through Moreplans there are chance to see tiny colonies of Marmots, Yaks & Herbs.

 

On arrival at Sarchu, stay overnight into Tented -Accommodation.

 

Sarchu is the border line between Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh - a picturesque town is located at the height of 4253 meters offers splendid views of snow-capped mountains, and we reach Baralachala pass 4883 Mtrs. here on the top there is a lake known as Surajtal and we will meet first village at Darcha after Rumtze.

 

Day 07: Sarchu - Jispa (116 Kms)

Morning you will visit to Dalai Lama monastery, later drive to Jispa and on arrival check-in into hotel.

 

Today you are free for rest & relaxation at your hotel.

Stay overnight at your hotel.

 

Day 08: Jispa - Manali (140 Kms)

Afternoon take short drive to Keylong you will stop here for one hour to visit around the local Bazar.

 

Afternoon continue drive to Manali and on arrival check-in into the hotel.

An altitude of 2050 m, Manali is situated along the banks of the Beas, close to the Rohtang Pass and Solang Valley, Situated on the banks of the Beas, the village is renowned for its hot springs and temples. The river with the wild flowers, hamlets and fruit-laden orchards present the gifts of the sight, sound and smell.

 

Later continue ascending toward Rohtang pass 3978 Mtrs. and we dip into Manali region.

Day 09: In Manali

Full day visit the Temple and Monasteries,

Visit and visit 400 years old Pagoda Temple of Hadimba Devi and old Manali to see the Manu temple and Vashist Temple - a glance of Himachali Articture.

 

Evening you will free to walk around the Mall Road.

Stay overnight at your hotel.

 

Day 10: Manali - Dharamshala (220 Kms)

Leave Manali and drive to Dharamshala on the way visit Triloknath Temple, and on arrival check-in into the hotel.

 

Over looking the plains and is surrounded by dense pine trees and Deodar forests and  a busy bazaar town Dharamsala has established itself as the traveler’s base camp, which come to explore the nearby mountains. The Kotwali Bazaar provides the entire colour and characteristic of a small town, which is mixed with the simple life style. The colourful temple and Gompas, which reflect the culture of Tibet, adds attraction for the visitor. The Kangra museum gives an overview of the rich past of the region and on the other hand there are institutes that have been established to preserve the Tibetan art, cultures and traditions.

Day 11: In Dharamsala

Full day take city tour

 

Morning visit Norbulingka, an institute for the preservation for treadition Tibetan arts and crafts. Also visit the Kangra Art museum which exhibits painting from the Kangra school of Miniature Paintings, sculptures, tribal and ornaments and photograph of the local monuments. Afternoon visit the Tibetan institute of the performing Arts founded in 1959 by holiness of the Dalai Lama to preserve traditional Tibetan art froms in music, dance and theatre.

 

Later visit Tsuglkhang or HH Dalai Lama’s temple, Bhasu nag waterfall.

Walk around market in the evening.

Day 12: Dharamshala – Amritsar

Morning proceed to Amritsar by surface and on arrival check-in into the hotel.

 

Around the Golden Temple, the holy city of Amritsar came into being. Guru Ram Das the successor go Guru Amar Das, came to live near this tranquil and peaceful site,  and started building the pilgrimage centre around the small pool, (later to become the Sarowar) which had initially drawn Guru Amar Das. The Jallianwala Bagh is a memorial of the martyrs of the 1919 massacre by the British General Dyer. the well into which the crowds jumped to escape the murderous hail of bullets and a simple memorial at the site that shaped India's destiny.

Evening an excursion to Wagah Border,


Wagah Border is between India and Pakistan, where you can view the ceremonial changing of the guard at dusk. Be in your seat just half an hour before sunset. Make sure you have a grandstand view of the high- stepping guards as they go through the immaculately contrived nightly parade of closing the border and ceremonial lowering of the flags.


Return to hotel for overnight stay.


Day 13: Amritsar – Delhi

Morning visit the city,


Visit Golden Temple (Darbar Sahib), situated in Amritsar, Punjab is the most sacred temple for Sikhs. It is a symbol of the magnificence and strength of the Sikh people all over the world. In the evolution of the Darbar Sahib, is entwined the history and ideology of Sikhism. In its architecture are included, symbols associated with other places of worship.


In time transfer to railway station to board train for Delhi, and on arrive transfer to your hotel for overnight stay.


Day 14: Departure Delhi

In time you will transfer to the International Airport for flight to onward destination.
