Assam Valley Tour

Day 01: Arrive Kolkata
On your arrival at international airport, transfer to your hotel for overnight stay.


The city was established in 1686 when British moved to the small villages of Sutanati, Govindpur, and Kalikata from their trading port of Hooghly. The city got its name from the last of the settlements mentioned above. The city progressed well until 1756 when Siraj-Ud-Daula (Nawab of Bengal) attacked the town and drove away the British. Lord Clive retook Calcutta- Kolkata and until 1911, Calcutta- Kolkata remained the capital of the British government in India. Being the center of power for so long created a unique culture and heritage of the city, totally unlike any other city of India. Calcutta is today a sprawling city of strange contrasts.  Palatial houses, huge monuments, a center of active politics, film and theatre, culture and art, the city offers another picture of herself in its hustle-bustle, its over crowdedness, its noisy streets and narrow lanes. 


Day 02: In Kolkata
Morning proceed for city sightseeing of Kolkata


Visit Indian Museum - Established long back in 1814 in the Asiatic Society Building was founded by Dr. Nathaniel Wallich, a botanist from Denmark. It is one of the earliest museums established in the world and considered the largest and best museum in the country. In 1875, it was shifted to the new building in Italian architectural style designed by Walter B Grawille, Kali Ghat - Kalighat is located in the city of Calcutta on the banks of the river Hooghly (Bhagirathi). The Kalighat temple in its present form iis only about 200 years old, although it has been referred to in Mansar Bhasan composed in the 15th century, and in Kavi Kankan Chandi of the 17th century. St.Paul Church & Victoria memorial - Victoria Memorial has been built in a sprawling 26 hectares of land and a visit to Victoria Memorial is the best education one can possibly have of the British East India Company's rule in India. Here you will come face to face with miniature paintings and images of Queen Mary, King George V and Queen Victoria. What is more, you will be mesmerized by the three thousand five hundred articles associated with the everlasting memory of Queen Victoria.

Day 03: Kolkata – Jorhat
Departure transfer to domestic airport to connect flight to Jorhat and on arrival transfer to your hotel.


The Tea capital of the world Jorhat is an important agricultural town for Assam. Since the time of British rule, Jorhat has been the main center for tea cultivation. Before the British Raj in 1824, it was the capital of Ahom Kingdom.
Jorhat is also famous for Majuli Island which is the largest river island in the world.

Afternoon you will visit to a nearby village to see Assamese villagers culture and tradition to see the simplicity of their lives.

Stay overnight at your hotel.

Day 04: Excursion to Sibasagar
Morning proceed for an excursion to Sibasagar

Explore Remains of the Ahom Kingdom remains of Ahom Kingdom who ruled Assam for 500 years before giving in to British. Visit to Tai Ahom Museum and the Maidams (Mummy like structures) of Ahom kings Burial grounds at Charaideo.

After visit drive back to Jorhat for Overnight stay.

 

Day 05: Jorhat - Kaziranga National park (90 Kms /03 Hrs)
Morning visit Toklai Research Station to know everything and anything about tea-plantation.

Afternoon we will leave for Kaziranga the home of the rhino with one horn and on arrival check-in into the hotel for overnight stay.

 

Day 06: In Kaziranga
Morning you will proceed for elephant safari to the National Park

Explore central Range of Kaziranga National Park on Elephant Safari. Elephants moved in a group through the grazing ground taking us closest we could be to the wild ones. Ride an Elephant through the park chasing a unicorn rhino along with a wide range of rare species.
On return explore the eastern range on a jeep safari.
Return for lunch and proceed to Western Range of Kaziranga National Park by elephant ride. Stay overnight at resort.

Day 07: In Kaziranga
Visit a tribal village and Tea Estate after breakfast followed by jeep safari in the eastern range of park with packed lunch.

Stay overnight at your hotel.

Day 08: Kaziranga –
Guwahati (220 Kms / 05 Hrs)
Morning proceed for Guwahati and on arrival check-in into the hotel.
Rest of the day are free for independent activities.

Guwahati was formerly known as Pragjyotishpur (the City of Eastern Light) considered as the gateway to the North-East of the country and Hub for the entire region and an entry point the world of wonders. The city is also a major center for cultural activities and sports in the North Eastern Region and for the administrative and political activities in Assam.  The city is located between the picturesque hills of the eastern flanks of the Himalayan mountain range.

Afternoon sight seeing tour of Guwahati


Visit Kamakhya Temple Kalakshetra, for a Glimpse of Assamese culture & tradition, Bashistha Ashram and a Major Hindu Pilgrimage site. Next visit to Bhubaneshwari, from where one can have a bird's eye view of the Guwahati.
In the evening take a cruise on Mighty Brahmaputra River. Stay overnight at your hotel.

Day 09: Guwahati - Kolkatta
In time transfer to airport to board flight for Kolkatta and on arrival you will be met and transferred to hotel.
Rest of the evening you will be free to explore to local market
Stay overnight at your hotel


Day 10: Depart Kolkata

In time you will transfer to international airport to connect flight for onward journey.
