Thimphu Tshechu Festival Tour

Place to visit: Delhi - Paro – Thimphu - Thimphu Tshechu - Punakha – Paro - Delhi

Day 01: Arrive Delhi
On your early morning arrival at International airport, transfer to your hotel for overnight stay.

Delhi, India’s modern capital is also an ancient city tracing its origins in legend.  It is dotted with hundreds of landmarks and offers more than a millennium of history in stone.  From here various Hindu and Muslim dynasties including the Mughals ruled India. When British administration moved to Delhi and New Delhi became the Capital of India once again.

Enjoy a full day sightseeing tour of the City of New Delhi & Old Delhi.

Morning proceed for sightseeing of New Delhi, visit Qutub Minar, One of the fine examples of early afghan architecture, Humayun Tomb built by the wife of Humayun, Haji Begum in the mid 16th century, this red sand stone structure is considered to be the predecessor of Taj Mahal.  Drive pass by India Gate (A War memorial) and Presidency House.


Afternoon sightseeing of Old Delhi include the drive past to Red Fort, visit to Jama Masjid, Commissioned by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and completed in the year 1656 AD, it is one of the largest and best-known mosques, and later enjoy cycle rickshaw ride within Chandani Chowk market.

Day 02: Delhi - Paro - Thimphu
Morning transfers to international airport to board on flight for Paro and on arrival met and proceed for Thimpu by surface,

From the flight a close up view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga and other famous peaks become a reality. Met upon arrival-proceed to Thimpu (the Capital of Bhutan).

 

On arrival check-in into the hotel for overnight stay.

 

Thimphu is the Capital to the tiny Himalayan kingdom Bhutan,. Thimphu is a gallery of traditional Bhutanese art, architecture, culture, and tradition and above all still so ethnic and pure. Full of wonderful Hand woven textiles, woodcarving, and tailor made clothing, jewelry. And it is said that Thimphu is the only world capital without traffic lights.

Day 03: In Thimphu
Enjoy a full day sightseeing tour of the beautiful town Thimpu

 

Morning visit to the National Library which hosts a vast collection of ancient Buddhist National Institute for Zorig Chumsum is commonly known as 'the painting school'. And Dechenchholing valley and witness the gold and silver smiths at work. And last visit to The Memorial Chorten.
Afternoon you will take a visit to handicrafts Emporium, to see the exquisite artistry of traditional crafts and textiles.

Day 04: Thimphu Tshechu
Morning proceed to attend the first day of the Tshechu, which is held outside the courtyard of Tashichho Dzong.

Day 05: Thimphu Tshechu
Attend full day Thimphu festival. Stay overnight at hotel.


Day 06: In Thimphu Trekking to Tango Monastery
Morning you will drive to the base camp of Tango Monastery and hike up to the Monastery. Tango is the center for higher studies for monks. The hike up will take approximately 45 minutes. The view from Tango Monastery is breathtaking.


Later drive back to Thimphu and evening free to explore Thimphu town.

Day 07: Thimphu-Punakha

In the morning, drive l to Punakha (2 ½ hrs) via the Dochula pass.


At Dochula pass one can have a superb view of the Eastern Himalayas on a clear day with a powerful binocular telescope. Visit the beautiful 108 chortens built on the hill by Her Majesty Ashi Dorji Wangmo for the security and well being of His Majesty the King of Bhutan.
On arrival in Punakha check-in into the hotel.

Punakha had once served as the winter capital of Bhutan. A three-hour winding mountain drive from Thimphu will land you in Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan. The route climbs past the forestry research station at Yusupang, then through apple orchards and forests of blue pine. A temperate climate and natural drainage from the phochu(male) and Mochu (female) rivers, the fertile punakha valley produces abundant crops and fertile punakha valley produces abundant crops and fruit. Viewing the scenery and then descend till you reach the Punakha Dzong located between Mochu and Phochu (Male 8 Female) rivers. The Dzong and the two rivers add exclusively to the scenic beauty of Punakha valley. 


Later visit Punakha Dzong, one of the most beautiful dzongs in Bhutan and also for having been built by the first Shabdrung in 1637.

 

Later proceed to sightseeing city  tour

 

Visit the Punakha Dzong, located on the island of the Pho-Chu (male) river and the Mochu (female) river. Visit the Dho Jha Gha Lam Temple. and later  walk through the Metshina Village and take a 20-minute walk through the rice fields to the Devine Madman’s Monastery-Chhimi Lhak0hang, famously known for its fertility shrine, where one can receive a special fertility blessing.


Day 08: Punakha- Paro

Morning proceed for Paro and on arrival check-in into the hotel for overnight stay.
 
Paro one of Bhutan's most impressive and well-known dzongs, and the finest example of Bhutanese architecture. The inward-sloping walls form a massive structure that towers over the town and is visible as a great white monolith from vantage points throughout the valley.

 

Day 09: In Paro
Full day city tour of Paro

 

Visiting of the Drukgley Dzong and on a clear day the 24,000 ft. white domed peak of sacred Chomolhari (Mt. of Goddess) looms overhead. A visit to the National Museum housed in an ancient watch tower, which has a fine collection of Thangkha, textiles, weapons, and artefacts-short walk to Paro Rimpung Dzong.

Day 10: Paro – Delhi – Onward Journey
In time proceed to Paro airport to board flight for Delhi, Arrive Delhi international airport and to board on connecting flight for onward Journey.
