Textile Tour of India


Duration: 13 Nights / 14 Days
Place to visit: Delhi - Bhiwani - Delhi - Amritsar - Ludhiana - Delhi - Ahmedabad - Mumbai


Day 01: Arrive Delhi
On your arrival at International airport, transfer to your hotel for overnight stay.


Delhi, India’s modern capital is also an ancient city tracing its origins in legend.  It is dotted with hundreds of landmarks and offers more than a millennium of history in stone.  From here various Hindu and Muslim dynasties including the Mughals ruled India. When British administration moved to Delhi and New Delhi became the Capital of India once again.


Day 02: In Delhi
Morning visit Indian Institute of Technology to meet the Teaching faculty and students of textile division


Later proceed for city sightseeing of Delhi

Morning visit Qutub Minar, one of the fine examples of early afghan architecture, Humayun Tomb - a red sand stone structure is considered to be the predecessor of Taj Mahal. India Gate (War Memorial Arch) and Lakshminarayan Temple - a modern Hindu Temple, Also drive past Parliament House and Presidency House.


Afternoon visit Raj Ghat - the cremation sites of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, Jama Masjid, one of the largest and best-known mosques, and drive past Red Fort later enjoy cycle rickshaw ride within Chandani Chowk market.

Stay overnight at hotel. 

Day 03: Delhi - Bhiwani – Delhi (118 Kms one way)
Morning depart for Bhiwani by surface

The institute has highly qualified faculty in the areas of textile technology, Processing, computer application as well as persons from manufacturing line who posses wide & mature industrial experience. The institute embodies a Novel and unique concept of combining class - rooms’ instructions with the laboratory and mill training under one roof.


Visit the technological Institute of Textiles which is a pioneer Institution running B. TECH. degree course in textile technology and textile chemistry. It is also conducting Post graduate teaching /research in Textile Technology up to doctoral level.


It is a unique Institute of tits kind as it has attached to it a large textile factory for the training of students under actual Mill working conditions.
Return to Delhi for overnight stay.


Day 04:  Delhi – Amritsar
Morning you will be free for rest at hotel.


 Later transfer to Railway Station to board train Shatabdi Express for Amritsar and on arrival check-in into the hotel for overnight stay.

Around the Golden Temple, the holy city of Amritsar came into being. Guru Ram Das the successor go Guru Amar Das, came to live near this tranquil and peaceful site,  and started building the pilgrimage centre around the small pool, (later to become the Sarowar) which had initially drawn Guru Amar Das. The Jallianwala Bagh is a memorial of the martyrs of the 1919 massacre by the British General Dyer. There is the well into which the crowds jumped to escape the murderous hail of bullets and a simple memorial at the site that shaped India's destiny.  

Day 05:  In Amritsar
Morning visit Golden Temple - the sacred Sikh Sanctuary, Marbled, Bronzed and covered with Gold Leaf wherein the Guru Grant Sahib the Bible of Sikhs is placed reverently. Also see the Community Kitchen where 10,000 pilgrims are fed daily on voluntary and complementary basis, the historic Jallianwala Bagh where Gen. Dyer’s bullets killed scores of innocent Indians and then the beautiful Ram Bagh Gardens.


Later visit OCR Textile Mills and ESSMAA and its two processing units.
Stay overnight at hotel.


Day 06: Amritsar – Ludhiana
Morning depart for Ludhiana by surface and on arrival check-in into the hotel.
Later visit Oswal Spinning And Weaving Limited.

Stay overnight at hotel.


Day 07: In Ludhiana
Visit Vardhman Spinning Mills - one of the finest mills and top of the rang in India.


Day 08:  Ludhiana - Delhi – Ahmedabad
Morning transfer to the Railway station to board trains Shatabdi Express for Delhi.
Later transfer to airport to board on flight for Ahmedabad and on arrival check-in into the hotel for overnight stay.


Day 09: In Ahmewdabad
Morning visit Calico Textile Museum, one of the best of its kind anywhere in the world. A fascinating collection of antique textiles displayed and also provide a fair idea of textile. Visit the local textile market to see the block printing, Tye and Dye, Pichwari and other forms of textile.
Later visit Self Employed Women Association To meet crafts women working at textile outlet. Stay overnight at hotel.


Day 10:  In Ahmedabad
Morning depart for a full day excursion to Patan & Pethapur

At Patan see the world famous Patola sarees weaving, one of the finest hand woven textile, also to see weaving of Mashru. At PETHAPUR see the manufacturing of wooden block used in block printing.
Return to hotel at Ahemdabad. Stay overnight at hotel.


Day 11:  Ahmedabad – Mumbai

Morning visit Soma Textile & Industries Ltd. Thereafter visit Arvind Mills.


Evening you will be transferred to airport to board flight for Mumbai and on arrival check-in into the hotel for overnight stay.


Mumbai is an industrial metropolis as well as the textile and film capital of the country. It was once a cluster of 7 islands. Bombay was ceded to the Portugese by the local ruler in the 16th Century.  Later, it was acquired by the English when it was given as a dowry to King Charles II when he married a Portuguese princess.  Today cosmopolitan Bombay is a commercial nerve centre apart from being one of India’s busiest ports.


Day 12: In Mumbai
Morning we take a half-day excursion to the Elephanta Caves.

 

Elephanta is a 3 kms long elongated island, consisting of two hills separated by a valley.  See Shiva in his three-headed aspect: as Creator (facing right), Protector (the crowned face at the center), and Destroyer (facing left, with serpents for hair). Also visit to Shiva bringing the Ganges River down to Earth.

 

Afternoon take the Half day tour Mumbai.


Visit the Juhu Beach, Gateway of India, Victoria Terminus, Prince of Wales Museum, Drive past the “Towers of Silence”, Kamla Nehru Park and Hanging Gardens situated on the slope of Malabar Hill offering a panoramic view of Marine Drive and Chowpatty Beach. Drive through local animated Crawford market. 


Also visit Raymond Mills, Thane.
Stay overnight at hotel.


Day 13: In Mumbai
Morning you will meet with Mumbai Textiles Research Association. Thereafter visit Mafatlal Textile Factory (Tentative) and Afternoon visit Century Textile Mills.


Stay overnight at hotel.


Day 14: Depart Mumbai
In time transfer to international airport to connect the flight for your onward journey.
