Day 01: Arrive Kolkata
On your arrival at international airport, transfer to your hotel for overnight stay.
The city was established in 1686 when British moved to the small villages of Sutanati, Govindpur, and Kalikata from their trading port of Hooghly. The city got its name from the last of the settlements mentioned above. The city progressed well until 1756 when Siraj-Ud-Daula (Nawab of Bengal) attacked the town and drove away the British. Lord Clive retook Calcutta- Kolkata and until 1911, Calcutta- Kolkata remained the capital of the British government in India. Being the center of power for so long created a unique culture and heritage of the city, totally unlike any other city of India. Calcutta is today a sprawling city of strange contrasts. Palatial houses, huge monuments, a center of active politics, film and theatre, culture and art, the city offers another picture of herself in its hustle-bustle, over crowdedness, noisy streets and narrow lanes.
Day 02: In Kolkata
Morning proceed for city sightseeing of Kolkata
Visit Indian Museum - Established long back in 1814 in the Asiatic Society Building was founded by Dr. Nathaniel Wallich, a botanist from Denmark. It is one of the earliest museums established in the world and considered the largest and best museum in the country. In 1875, it was shifted to the new building in Italian architectural style designed by Walter B Grawille, Kali Ghat - Kalighat is located in the city of Calcutta on the banks of the river Hooghly (Bhagirathi). The Kalighat temple in its present form iis only about 200 years old, although it has been referred to in Mansar Bhasan composed in the 15th century, and in Kavi Kankan Chandi of the 17th century. St.Paul Church & Victoria memorial - Victoria Memorial has been built in a sprawling 26 hectares of land and a visit to Victoria Memorial is the best education one can possibly have of the British East India Company's rule in India. Here you will come face to face with miniature paintings and images of Queen Mary, King George V and Queen Victoria. What is more, you will be mesmerized by the three thousand five hundred articles associated with the everlasting memory of Queen Victoria.

Day 03: Kolkata - Bhubaneswar
Departure transfer to domestic airport to connect flight to Bhubaneswar and on arrival transfer to the hotel.
Bhubaneswar - the temple city of India. Once the capital of ancient Kalinga, the city has a long history & is today a bustling centre for commerce & religious activity. These temples are unique in themselves, not only in their architectural beauty but also in the wonderful sculptures. These temples epitomize a comprehensive history of Orissan style of temple architecture from its very inception to perfection spreading almost to 2000 years from 3rd century BC to 16th Century AD. Today this bustling centre of commerce and religion is Orissa's modern capital.
Afternoon full day Temple visit
Visiting Lord Shiva Lingaraja Temple, the 11th century temple of Bhubaneswar has been described as "truest fusion of dream & reality." A rare masterpiece, the temple has been rated one of the finest examples of purely Hindu temple. Every inch of the 55 m-high Lingaraja temple is covered with elaborate carvings. Sculpture & architecture fused elegantly to create a perfect harmony. Next we visit Mukteshwara Temple, a 7th-8th century AD is one of the most ornate temples in Bhubaneswar. The intricate carvings of the deities stand testimony to the influence of Hindu, Buddha & Jain style of architecture.
We also visit Parashurameshwara Temple, a small but richly decorated shrine of Shiva that was built in the 7th century. It is one of the best examples of the Orissa style of temple architecture.

Day 04: Excursion to Nuapatna
Morning proceed for an excursion to the textile town Nuapatna
Take a full day trip to villages to see many Co-operatives of weavers where countries of tradition woven into fabric. The weavers of this village are a class by themselves and have been known far & wide for the intricate, painstaking skills exhibited in their fabrics. Their TIE & DYE patterns popularly known as 'IKAT'. This technique commonly known as 'Bandha'. We will see all the steps of the Ikat Bandha. As per the tradition they weave in Silk Tasser, Eri Silk and also we will be able to follow its way from cocoons until the finished fabric.
Later drive back to Bhubaneswar through lovely countryside. Stay overnight at your hotel.
Day 05: Bhubaneswar-Olasing - Boudh
Morning proceed for Boudh via visiting the Olasing town.
Olasing, one of the famous village for Tasser weaving in traditional way. The whole villagers are working on the above field and really a very nice place to watch all kind of activities.
Later continue proceed to Boudh and on arrival check-in into the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 06: Boudh-Sagarpalli-Sonepur-Bolangir
Morning drive to Bolangir via visiting the Sagarpalli and Sonepur
Visit Weaving Factory (Silk & Cotton)in Sagarpalli. Here you will get the idea of Design Development, Weaving, Processing and mode of training. You will also visit some houses where they make JALLA work. Proceed to Sonepur. Here you will visit Master Craftsman specially to see the best natural lying process, ingredients, traditional design with Script in fabrics also visit the Pocket loom etc.
Later proceed for Bolangir and stay overnight at hotel.
Day 07: Bolangir-Barpali-Baragada-Sambalpur
Morning proceed to Barpali, one of the best Silk and Cotton weaver's village, there the master Craftsman best known Tassar Silk Weaver will speak us about the above related activities. and you will see the famous Sarees in exotic design named as Bichitrapuri (Wonder World). Kotibramhanda Sundari (The most beautiful among million) and many others.
Afternoon proceed to Sambalpur, this place is very famous for Dress materials with IKAT motifs on cotton Tassar and Bapta with Jalla materials.
Arrive and check-in into the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 08: Sambalpur-Gonasika-Keonjhar
Morning proceed for Keonjhar via visiting the town Gonasika
The wild/Tasser and Silk production centre be the highlight of this day. As you will be entering into the tribal land, now all sets are completely different from the general. You will also visit some of the Tribal Highland.

Day 09: Excursion to Bansapal
To day you will visit the weekly and interesting Tribal Market. Here you will find different and very colorful hand weaves Sarees and many different kind of Thread being used for the weaving. Also you will visit some more Tribal villages.

Day 10: Keonjhar-Dhenkkot-Fakirpur- Cuttack-Bhubaneswar
Today you will visit the Tasser reeling, Spinning, production cum demonstration center, till arriving in the old Capital of Orissa, Cuttack. This place is very famous for SILVER filigree work in whole world.
Later Drive to Bhubaneswar and on arrival check-in into the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 11: Bhubaneswar – Kolkatta – Onward Journey
In the morning you will be in leisure and later as per the scheduled time departure transfer to the airport for flight to Kolkatta. After reaching the airport of Kolkatta take the connecting flight to your onward destination. |
