Day 01: Arrive Delhi
On your arrival at International airport, transfer to your hotel for overnight stay.
Delhi, India’s modern capital is also an ancient city tracing its origins in legend. It is dotted with hundreds of landmarks and offers more than a millennium of history in stone. From here various Hindu and Muslim dynasties including the Mughals ruled India. When British administration moved to Delhi and New Delhi became the Capital of India once again.
Day 02: In Delhi
Full day proceed for city sightseeing of Delhi
Morning visit Qutub Minar, one of the fine examples of early afghan architecture, Humayun Tomb - a red sand stone structure is considered to be the predecessor of Taj Mahal. India Gate (War Memorial Arch) and Lakshminarayan Temple - a modern Hindu Temple, Also drive past Parliament House and Presidency House.
Afternoon visit Raj Ghat - the cremation sites of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, Jama Masjid, one of the largest and best-known mosques, and drive past Red Fort later enjoy cycle rickshaw ride within Chandani Chowk market.
Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 03: Delhi - Bagdogra - Glenburn Tea Estate (Darjeeling)
Morning you will transfer to airport to flight for Bagdora and on arrival transfer to hotel in Glenburn Tea Estate (Darjeeling).
The rest of the day is at leisure. Stay overnight at your hotel.
Day 04: In Glenburn Tea Estate
Take a tour of Glenburn tea estate and walk through the tea fields.
Afternoon takes a tour of tea factory for a guided tour and the privileges of tea taste with a briefing of overview of how tea is grown, manufactured and tasted and history of Glenburn.
You will be told about the whole process of as to how the leaf is brought in from the fields, weighed, and then taken through the processes of Withering, Rolling, Fermenting, Drying and finally sorting.
Afternoon for refreshment provided at a suitable mid-way point.
Later drive for banks of the River Rung Dung. Relax on the riverfront and paddle in the rock pools.

Day 05: In Glenburn Tea Estate
Hike along the River Rungjeet and Manjitar Village in Sikkim
Walk is done along a flat, well-defined path. It will take about 2 hrs to walk the path. Drive down through the Simbong Forest to the River Rung Dung on a jeep. Cross the river over a small suspension bridge that takes you into the Badamtam Forest.
Follow river Rungeet while walking along the forest path. The naturalist accompanying you will help you identify the birds, butterflies, occasional animals, and the rich plant life found in the forest. Also walk through a forest village and have the option to walk down to the sandy banks of the river.
Reach the Manjitar Suspension Footbridge after an hour’s walk leading you to the old royal kingdom of Sikkim. The bridge was built by the British in 1902, after the original cane bridge was washed away by the floods of 1899. The bridge is about 200 feet wide and about 100 feet above the river and crossing it is an adventure in itself. The original photo of the cane bridge can be seen on the Glenburn front verandah.
Cross the bridge into Sikkim and wander around Manjitar Village. Halt for a cup of tea in one of the village “dhaabas” (tea shops) and also visit the local Shiv Temple. Enjoy the volleyball that takes place between the local police force and the villagers. Lunch served in picnic-style on the way. Follow the same route on return journey. You also have the option to take the alternative “river beach” route, which is slightly tougher.
Refreshments served back at the Glenburn-Badamtam Bridge. You also have a choice of walking to the Glenburn Campsite for the evening/night or driving back up to The Burra Bunglaow. The Campsite is just 20-minutes walk from here.

Day 06: Excursion to Darjeeling
Full day you will be an excursion of Darjeeling Town.
The cool climate of Darjeeling provides a delightfully different experience from most other parts of India. The town nestled in the lap of the mighty Kanchenjunga and it is a mixture of old colonial charm, bustling bazaars and the lush tea gardens, to the beautiful natural scenic views and a wide variety of activities, lush tea gardens, terraced farms and a slower pace of life.
Full day take the tour of Darjeeling.
Early morning you will drive to Tiger Hill to witness the sunrise over the fabulous views of the famous Mt. Kanchendzonga (28,208 ft) (subject to clear weather conditions). On way back to the hotel visit Ghoom Monastery a Tibetan Buddhist monastery.
Later drive to the Lebong Contonment area in the afternoon. Visit the Zoo, famous for its snow leopards and pandas, the renowned Himalyan Mountaineering Institute and the Gymkhana Club.
Drive back to Glenburn for overnight stay.
Day 07: Glenburn - Pelling
Drive to Pelling and on arrival check-in into the hotel.
Later visit of Pemayangtse Monastery,
The monastery was built by Lama Lhatsun Chempo mainly for the 'ta-sang' lamas (the purest of monks). This monastery boasts of a splendid collection of ancient Buddhist antique idols, scriptures as well as sculptures.
Known for its scenic beauty, Pelling is a beautiful place with snow covered mountains and lush green forests. Providing a spectacular view of the Khangchendzonga, Pelling in Sikkim is an ideal getaway for tourists.

Day 08: Pelling - Gangtok
Morning drive to Gangtok and on arrival check-in into hotel,
Gangtok means ‘Hilltop’, one, which was made flat in 1716 to build the Gangtok Monastery. The town is situated in the lower Himalayas & was a small hamlet until the construction of the Enchey Monastery in 1840 made it a pilgrimage center. It became a major stopover between Tibet & British India at the end of the 19th century. It is also a centre of Tibetan Buddhist culture & learning with numerous monasteries & religious educational.
Afternoon visit to Research Institute of Tibetology,
Research Institute of Tibetology-a library with a large collection of documents and rare books on Buddhism and an attached museum with a rare collection of antiques, coins and Tibetan Paintings,

Day 09: In Gangtok
Morning proceed on a city tour of Gangtok
Excursion tour to Tsongo Lake, considered extremely sacred by the local people. The place is a paradise for bird lovers with large number of Blue Whistling Thrush, Redstarts & Fork tails around. It hosts a number of migratory birds prominent among which is the Brahminy ducks. Next we visit Do Drul Chorten, are two exquisite Stupas, the Dul-dul-Chorten, built to commemorate the victory of good over evil. Thrul-Shik Rinpoche an ardent devotee of Buddha & one of his best interpreters died in 1962, the stupa immortalizes Rinpoche in the land of his birth.
Evening explore Lal bazaar, melody of colour. Various ethnic groups from different villages gather to haggle, bargain, gossip their wares.

Day 10: Gangtok - Kalimpong
Morning proceed to Kalimpong by surface and on arrival check-in into hotel.
Kalimpong is a unique extravaganza typical to rural regions, a cultural experience you will never forget. , the picturesque town of Kalimpong is definitely a place to visit in this region. Once a part of Sikkim, this town is was an important centre for trade and commerce for Tibetans from the north and the headquarters of the Governor of Bhutan. If you like going for long walks, this is where you should head for. The temperate climate and sylvan surroundings makes it an ideal place for spending a restful weekend.
Evening is at leisure to visit the local monasteries and the flower nurseries.

Day 11: In Kalimpong
Full day proceed for city tour
Visit Thongsa Gompa also known as the Bhutanese Monastery. It is the oldest monastery in Kalimpong, Though the old structure was destroyed by the Gorkhas, it was rebuilt on the same site. Next visit the Zong Dog Palri Fo-Brang Gompa, which is on the Durpin hill & is famous for the Tibetan wall paintings. It also has a religious debating society along with a school of Tibetan medicine.
Later you will visit Tharpa Choeling Monastery founded in 1937 & belongs to the Gelugpa (yellow hat) sect of Tibetan monastery. This Monastery houses many old scriptures & literary works. Next Dr Graham's Home, mission school was founded by Scottish missionary Dr. John Anderson Graham in 1900. The purpose of the school was to educate children of the tea garden workers & poor labourers.

Day 12: Kalimpong – Bagdora (78 Kms / 02Hrs) – Delhi – Departure
Transfer to Badogra airport to board on flight for Delhi. After reaching the airport of Delhi take the connecting flight to your onward destination. |
