North East India Trekking Tour

This trek offers breath-taking views of the Himalayan range from Cho Oyo to Kanchenjunga. The Singalila range is one of the rare spots on earth where the view embraces five summits rising above 8000m, amongst them Everest, Makalu and Lhotse. On these 19th century English Lords trails, you will trek on easy narrow paths along the Indo-Nepali border, sometimes at the edge of the jungle, sometimes through rhododendron forests. The visit of the main Sikkim monasteries provides a touch of culture and makes of this journey a rare venture.

Day 01: Arrive Delhi
On early morning arrival at International airport, you will be met and transferred to hotel.


Delhi, India’s modern capital is also an ancient city tracing its origins in legend.  It is dotted with hundreds of landmarks and offers more than a millennium of history in stone.  From here various Hindu and Muslim dynasties including the Mughals ruled India. When British administration moved to Delhi and New Delhi became the Capital of India once again.


Full day take the tour of New Delhi & Old Delhi.


Morning proceed for sightseeing of New Delhi, visit Qutub Minar, One of the fine examples of early afghan architecture, Humayun Tomb, built by the wife of Humayun, Haji Begum in the mid 16th century, this red sand stone structure is considered to be the predecessor of Taj Mahal.  Drive pass by India Gate (A War memorial) and Presidency House.


Afternoon proceed for sightseeing of Old Delhi, include the drive past to Red Fort, visit to Jama Masjid, Commissioned by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and completed in the year 1656 AD, it is one of the largest and best-known mosques, and later enjoy cycle rickshaw ride within Chandani Chowk market.

Day 02: Delhi - Bagdogra - Darjeeling
Morning you will transfer to airport to flight for Bagdora and on arrival transfer to Darjeeling to check-in into hotel.

The rest of the day is at leisure.

 

The cool climate of Darjeeling provides a delightfully different experience from most other parts of India. The town nestled in the lap of the mighty Kanchenjunga and it is a mixture of old colonial charm, bustling bazaars and the lush tea gardens, to the beautiful natural scenic views and a wide variety of activities, lush tea gardens, terraced farms and a slower pace of life.

Day 03: In Darjeeling
We could take an early trip to Tiger Hill to see the sunrise. Afterwards we visit the famous Ghoom monastery that enshrines an image of the Maitreya Buddha (the coming Buddha). Later on we can visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and tea plantations.

Day 04: Darjeeling - Manay Bhanjang (By Car/ Coach 1&1/2 Hrs) - Tonglu  
Early morning drive from Darjeeling to Manay Bhanjang trek point. From here the trek to Tonglu.

The trail overlooks the Bengali plain south, and we have tantalising glimpses of Kanchenjunga ahead, as we zigzag through rhododendrons. 

Arrive and stay overnight in camp.
   
Day 05: Tonglu - Garibas (05 Hrs Trek)  
We take a mossy paved path, that snakesthrough a succession of forests and hamlets, giving way, from time to time, to spectacular mountain sceneries.

Day 06: Garibas - Sandakphu (04& ½ Hrs.  Trek)
 We steadily climb to join the ridge trail towards Kalpokhari. Afterwards we start a long and steep climb onto the Singalila ridge that leads us to Sandakphu. A remarkable 360 ° view from the top.

Arrive at Sandakpu and stay overnight in camp.

 

Day 07:  Sandakphu - Phalut (06 Hrs.  Trek)
 We walk to a prominent viewpoint for the magnificent sunrise over the Kanchenjunga, Jannu, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Cho Oyo. Throughout the day, there are ever-changing views: yak herds, silvery pine forests, tiny lakes ringed with grass, and the snow-capped Himalayan range in the background. 

Arrive Phalut and stay overnight in camp.

 

Day 08: Phalut – Raman (05 Hrs Trek)
A pleasant descent through the woods takes us to Gorkhey (2500m) then we climb up towards Raman. 
   
Day 09: Raman – Rimbik (04 Hrs Trek)
 We pass through numerous villages and cross the Sri Khola over a remarkable suspension bridge. 

Arrive at Rimbik and stay overnight in camp.
   
Day 10:  Rimbik - Pelling (By Car/ Coach 09 Hrs)
Morning proceed to Pelling by surface and on arrival check-in into the hotel for overnight stay.
   
Day 11: Pelling – Pemayangtse (By Car/Coach)
 Morning drive to Pemyangtse and on arrival check-in into the hotel,


Pemyangtse is at an altitude of 2085 m and is known for the second oldest monastery in Sikkim.  The Monastery has many priceless antique religious idols and other objects.  Nearby are the ruins of Rabdantse, the second capital of Sikkim – for over a century – established in late 17th century.  Pemyangtse belongs to the Nyingmapa sect and is the head of all such gompas in Sikkim.


Later take a half day sightseeing tour including a visit to the Khecheopalri Lake. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 12: Pemyangtse - Gangtok (117 Kms/ 3 Hrs)
Morning drive to Gangtok and on arrival check-in into hotel,

 

Gangtok means ‘Hilltop’, one, which was made flat in 1716 to build the Gangtok Monastery, is situated in the lower Himalayas & was a small hamlet until the construction of the Enchey Monastery in 1840 made it a pilgrimage center. It became a major stopover between Tibet & British India at the end of the 19th century.  It is also a centre of Tibetan Buddhist culture & learning with numerous monasteries & religious educational.

 

The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 13: In Gangtok
Morning proceed on a city tour of Gangtok

 

Visiting to Research Institute Of Tibetology -a library with a large collection of documents and rare books on Buddhism and an attached museum with a rare collection of antiques, coins and Tibetan Paintings, Orchid Sanctuary with over 200 species of orchids amidst beautiful landscape and Rumtek Monstery – an exact replica of the monastery at Tsurphu in Tibet.  Afternoon city tour covers Tsuklakhang, Royal Chapel of the Chogyals. 


Stay overnight at hotel.

 

Day 14: Gangtok – Bagdora - Delhi
Transfer to Badogra airport to board on flight for Delhi. On arrival transfer to hotel for overnight stay.


Day 15: Depart Delhi

In time you will transfer to international airport to connect flight for onward journey.
