Nepal Birdwatching Tour

 


Duration: 11 Nights / 12 Days
Places to visit: Kathmandu - Phulchowki Danra - Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve - Pokhara - Chitwan National Park - Chitwan – Bardia National Park - Daman - Kathmandu


Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu 
On your arrival at international airport, transfer to your hotel for overnight stay.
                                                                                      
Kathmandu the capital and cultural hub of Nepal Kingdom, surrounded by green hills and mountains with snow capped peaks against its northern and eastern background the Valley is indeed beautiful. There are complex examples of Nepal’s art and architecture all round.  


Day 02: In Kathmandu 
Half day sightseeing tour

Visiting temples of Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, temple of the living and Also visit Durbar Square, which is residence of Kumari, the Living Goddess (Virgin Goddess), its wooden balconies and windows are profusely carved. Later visit Hanuman Dhoka, the historic palace of the ancient kings of Nepal.  A complex of many temples and monuments, guarded by a huge statue of the Monkey God, It is here that the kings of Nepal are crowned, and their coronations solemnized.


Rest of the evening is free to enjoy exploring local animated market. Stay overnight at hotel.


Day 03: In Kathmandu (Excursion to Phulchowki Danra)
Morning proceed to Phulchowki Danra, the highest of the hill encircling the valley for bird watching and the way we will stop beside the Trisuli River where we will look out for Kingfisher.

 

Today whole day we will watch the birds in Phulchowki and later we will drive back to the hotel in Kathmandu for overnight stay.

 

Day 04: In Kathmandu (Excursion to Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve )
Morning proceed to visit Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve.

 

This wildlife reserve lies in eastern part of Nepal. Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is an example of one of the finest birding sites in Asia. Koshi Tappu was established as a wildlife reserve in 1976 with an aim to protect the last remaining population of Asiatic Wild Buffaloes in Nepal. The reserve has a total area of 175 sq. km. and is roughly rectangular in shape. The principal habitats in the reserve include: wetlands, grasslands and small patches of riverine forest. The reserve provides the best adventure of spotting hundreds of rare species of birds and fresh water dolphins.

Today whole day we will watch the birds in the reserve.

 

Later we will drive back to the hotel in Kathmandu for overnight stay.

 

Day 05: Kathmandu - Pokhara 
Morning proceed on a picturesque drive to the enchanting city of Pokhara, and on arrival, check into your hotel for overnight stay.

 

Pokhara is part of a once vibrant trade route extending between India and Tibet. Its peaceful lakeside location and proximity to the Annapurna mountain range, mean it is an ideal place for recovering from (or gearing up for) for execution. The valley surrounding Pokhara is home to thick forests, gushing rivers, emerald lakes, and of course, the world famous views of the Himalaya. 

 

Day 06: Pokhara - Chitwan National Park
Morning proceed to Chitwan and on arrival check-in into the hotel for overnight stay.

Chitwan, located at the foothills of the Himalayas, Chitwan is famous for its rich flora, fauna and wildlife, especially the single-horned Asiatic rhinoceros and the Royal Bengal tiger! On arrival in Chitwan, check into your hotel. 

 

Rest of the evening is free to enjoy for nature walks.

 Day 07: Chitwan
Morning Jeep Safari at Chitwan National Park

 

Early morning, proceed on a safari in jeeps into the Royal Chitwan National Park, passing through Sal forests, riverine vegetation and 'elephant grass' savannah. Spot different species of birds, butterflies and the most famous single-horned Asian rhinoceros. If lucky you will spot the Royal Bengal tiger.

 

Rest of the afternoon is free for nature walks. 

 

Day 08: Chitwan – Bardia National Park
Morning you will proceed to the Royal Bardia National Park and on arrival check into your resort/lodge for overnight stay.

 

The Royal Bardia National Park is the largest and most undisturbed wild area of the Terai region of the Nepal Himalayas. it was a royal hunting reserve of Nepal's Rana rulers from 1846 to 1950. Bardia was declared a wildlife reserve in 1976.  The park situated in Nepal’s Western Terai was established to protect representative ecosystems and conserve tiger and its prey species. The park is habitat of various mammals like Chital or Spotted Deer, Hog Deer, Sambhar, Swamp Deer, Barasingha, Gaur, Wild Boar, Sloth Bear, Nilgai and Himalayan Tahr, Langur, Rhesus Macaque, Jackal, Yellow-throated Marten, Mongoose and Indian Otter. and bird species with over 300 resident and migratory species.

 

Day 09: Bardia National Park
Morning Elephant safari to National park to view the varios Himalayan bird species and wild life.

Return to hotel for freshing –up in afternoon

In the evening enjoy the Tharu Cultural Prpgramme. Stay overnight at resort/lodge.

Day 10: Bardia National Park - Daman
Today we leave Bardia National Park and drive to the city Daman and on arrival check-in into the hotel for overnight stay.

 

Daman is situated around 2400 m and gives us most fantastic views of the Himalayas. It has a great view of the mountains from Dhaulagiri to Mt Everest. Daman is halfway between Kathmandu and Hetauda at 2320m.

 

Day 11: Daman - Kathmandu
Morning after taking the most fantastic a view of Dhaulagiri and Mt Everest proceed to Katmandu via villages and small localities.

 In the evening we have enough time today to discover the local animated bazaar of Kathmandu.

Day 12: Departue Kathmandu
Day is at leisure until we pick you up at the hotel and then transfer to airport to board on flight for onward journey.
